Thank you; I never understand people who do this on undivided highways - the extra 1-2 seconds you gain by being in the further lane is easily the difference between life and death. Only danger on right side is sometimes not as well plowed so you may hit ice with right tire, or deer popping out.
Not enough people understand that you're WAY better to hit the car in front of you, get rear-ended or slam into a tree, than head-on collision...especiallly with a truck.

Hearing the happy whistling humanizes the whole thing. Shows you that even if he was speeding he was still a person not the devil and surely didn't want to kill his friend

Can someone please explain, on a technical level, what caused him to lose control? It seems like he kinda swerved a little bit on the second last oncoming lorry, wasn't even a big swerve, why would this be enough to cause such an effect?

Because he was speeding.... well past the maximum limit for these conditions.... the road surface will be ice cold, slick, wet.... any small change of direction or movement in the car will be exaggerated.... and what could have been a nice long life is sadly cut very short.... though youre asking for it if you drive like this. Im surprised the passenger didnt say anything, id make him pull over and drive myself.

Probably fear of being seen as a coward/buzz-killer. Peer pressure is one hell of a drug. I've been involved in a relatively minor accident where driver was driving fast at night, I knew we were almost certainly getting into an accident, but I didn't really have the guts to confront the driver (I did however discuss the risks with another passenger in the back, telling him "we're going too fast and will probably crash". Passenger was worried but also didn't have the guts to do anything. We then crashed shortly after. I can really understand why a person would choose to remain mum over a situation they know places them in certain danger.

I do get it, but its not worth losing your life judt because the driver wont drive a little slower, id definitely say something, and tell them to slow down 👍

Have you ever driven on slick roads? It's dangerous enough going half that speed when there is ice. Going that fast is a death sentence. Slamming on the brakes would have the exact same effect of him spinning out. I don't know how you can live somewhere with snow and still not have any common sense when it comes to winter driving. (Directed at person in video, not at you.)

I come from a tropical country where there's zero ice/snow. So the idea of a slick road is just something I'm not familiar with. With this new information, I now realize just how dumb the driver was to go so fast in such conditions.
