I just always assume every car out there is going to hit me. I do not play games like that with large moving vehicles. In that game of chicken you are never going to win. If you have the mindset that, "Oh this car won't hit me, they are not allowed to hit me! I have the right of way!" See how that right of way works out for you in the after life.
Stay out of traffic! If you are going to be in traffic just assume every car is going to run you down. That will keep you from playing chicken with said vehicles.

I have a friend who refuses to wait for cars when he needs to cross a road he says he is only on foot and they are in cars so they can stop and wait and still get to their destination faster than him.
