You have the right to freely protest (in the US).
You don't have the right to form a massive fucking mob that incites panic and violence. I don't think multiple people already armed with bats and other weapons immediately trying to attack the vehicle is a good indicator that it was "peaceful". As soon as one person tried to do anything that could've put that person in danger all bets were off. They supposed to just sit there while they and possibly their family is forced out of the vehicle by some 2 bit thug acting like they're "protesting" something?

yeah. if you are driving on a street that's been let to a group, YOU took a wrong turn somewhere and are the trespasser. And if they aren't legally protesting, you still don't have the right to harm them.

you realise that if you take a wrong turn, either because you aren't local or weren't aware of this event happening, these people who are already armed will immediately start attacking you? If someone was driving behind you and it's a narrow street, you now have to coordinate reversing with several cars or you just stay stuck while they attack you.
