I think the Indian male drivers typically have decent technical skills & spatial awareness. The problem is a cultural attitude of carelessness, along with lack of education in road safety.
To them it doesn't matter if you miss oncoming traffic by an inch or by a mile, as long as you fit through the gap.

In India, to get a driving license you need to appear at the test location for a couple of days, wait in long lines, go through tests under supervision of a police officer... Or you could just slide a ₹1000 bill and get all the paperwork and approval done in a few minutes (no driving test needed). Saying from experience.
