Police
For anything involving police activity. While usually you will see silly criminals trying to get the drop on cops or pulling out knives and promptly losing their lives, This is also the place for when our brave men (and women) in blue fall in the line of duty.

They fired the officer, but he will not be charged. He was fired because he refused to cooperate with the questioning following the shooting, as well as a lack of truthfulness in his answers to questions about prior incidents.
For some context, it’s pretty common to leave patrol cars running so you don’t kill the starter by starting the car 400 times a day. But it should be common sense to at least lock the door and have a spare key.
Most patrol cars have an AR15 style rifle very accessible to the driver’s position. They’re “locked” but it’s a simple unlock button that’s usually clearly marked. This unlock button works when the car is off, as patrol cars have 2 batteries. One will run the car and stock components, the other stays on to run radio, computer, lights, etc; when the car is off.
Not saying this was a good shoot. But those are some facts.

I say it was a good shoot only because that guy dying is just one more good thing for this world.

It's much more worrisome to think about what will be if nobody died.

You do know police carry other firearms in their patrol vehicles, right? It’s not a civilian vehicle, they carry equipment, a shotgun or rifle, extra ammunition, and a bunch of various tools/communication equipment.

why does any of that green light killing the guy?
Jump in the discussion.

It doesn't, because if it did, cops would be able to shoot anyone with a weapon at any given time, even when they aren't being threatened with death by the weapon.

Guns in the car. Since he's in the car, he's in possession of the guns, locked or not. Cop guns.
Bad move.

I kinda hate how the article linked in the post fails to state that the guy went for the patrol car, as if the cop started letting rounds fly like he was still in a stolen car. Theres a difference between being in a car that hasnt even left the lot yet and being in a car which you know is full of weapons

There were so many other options. Why didn’t the cop shoot out the fucking tires? The guy wasn’t even a threat.

This is real life.. this is not a video game or an action movie. This is reality. Shooting out the tires is probably the least effective way to stop this guy.

Yeah, that all makes sense but the guy didn’t physically threaten the officer. I’m usually supportive of cops but wrong is wrong.

Patrol cars have VERY efficient run-flats. Shooting the tires won’t do anything. Also, if you’re shooting, it’s because it’s a deadly force situation. You’ve gotta be aiming at the individual causing the threat. Shooting out tires doesn’t work like it does in TV. But you’re right, he wasn’t a threat at that moment. But he did not have access to the officers AR15

He didn’t have access YET, but he did have access to a functional police car, that would’ve left the officer stranded. Good shoot

If he's trying to steal a car, then tries to steal a police car he's definitely a threat to society.
