On May 9th at 10am in Korean time, A Korean YouTuber was stabbed to death in front of a court while livestreaming after the trial.

The killer turned out to be a YouTuber who had a legal dispute with the victim.

The killer fled in the car but was arrested by police.

Who is Logan Paul?

Logan Alexander Paul is a famed social media influencer/YouTuber, professional wrestler, actor, an entrepreneur, and a professional dumbass. Logan was born on August 1st, 1995 to Gregory Allan Paul and Pam Stepnick and has a brother 2 years younger than him, Jake Paul, who is also a social media influencer/YouTuber and an actor.

Logan's fame started on the platform known as 'Vine'. When Vine shut down, Logan made a YouTube channel called TheOfficialLoganPaul, on October 18, 2013, where he would continue to post regularly. On August 29, 2015, he created the Logan Paul Vlogs channel, which is now his most-subscribed to YouTube channel. It was also said he "was ranked on the Forbes list for the highest paid YouTube creators in 2017, 2018, and 2021." [3]

In a video posted in 2017, Logan Paul, a YouTuber, filmed a man hanging in the infamous 'Suicide Forest' also know as Aokigahara Forest in Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi, Japan..He fucked up and here's what happened.

The initial purpose of the video was to focus on the haunted aspects of the forest and to camp there throughout the night when they unexpectedly stumbled across a man hanging from a tree and were met with a shocking site...When they got to the forest, they were cracking jokes and making light of the situation but stressing that it is suicide forest. At 5:47, They discovered the body, Logan said, "Im not even kidding, this isn't a fucking joke guys, that's a fucking person." After repeated denial they got closer to the body. In shock, Logan asked "Did we just find a dead person in the suicide forest, hanging?" And after being asked if they think it's real, one of his friends mentioned they know the possibility of it being a real person based on a previous suicide from a classmate from the junior highschool he went to, (I am unsure if he was referring to this possibly being the man hanging in the video) this prompted the man to take action and called the police.

When they got closer to the body, they tried checking for signs of life by exclaiming things like "Hey/Hello" "You okay?" "Yo are you alive, are you fucking with us?" They show his hands and they're purple, indicating that this was a recent suicide and is infact dead

Thankfully, he did censor his face with the intent of protecting him, his privacy, and his family. This being said, there is not a known/public uncensored video, so please don't ask me for it.

Throughout the video they expressed their denial and how this has never happened to them before. Logan apologized for the grim video, saying how "Suicide is not a joke" and "Depression and mental illnesses is not a joke, we came here with the intent to focus on the haunted aspect of the forest. This just became very real." When they were met with the reality they came to realize it was "real" and "way too scarily real" and that it was "the most real vlog I've ever made"..they start making jokes of the situation by sarcastically asking "you ever stand next to a dead guy before?" to which they start laughing at and follow up with their own jokes and went on about how the whole video was supposed to be a joke but asked "why did it become so real?" He says his laughing and jokes are not a portrayal of how they actually feel about the situation however they were still met with a lot of backlash to which he has since responded to in a 1:44 minute video and a public Twitter/X post.

I do not know what was going through his head when he was editing and thinking this would be suitable for the platform or his audience. He was disrespectful and exploited the situation and excuses his actions as a "coping mechanism".

Why Was it a Problem?

Consider his target audience, it is primarily children and teens. Displaying a real depiction of a dead person on your public channel is very disturbing and distasteful and the way he was exploiting the situation/the hanging man is deplorable. He didn't take the situation seriously and covered it as a coping mechanism, regardless of how he processes this stuff, he still has a young and impressionable audience who shouldn't be exposed to content like this and the way he was light-hearted about it all took away from the seriousness of the situation and what happened with the man. He blatantly exploited him for what he thought was spreading awareness for suicide.

Video Apology

Logan made this apology with no intentions of being forgiven but to apologize. He ensures the initial video was raw, unfiltered, and unscripted and how they were unsure of how to think or act given the circumstances. In his apology to the victim/his family and to the Internet, he asks that those who are defending his actions to stop because those actions don't deserve to be defended. He said, "I should have never posted the video. I should have put the cameras down" and claims didn't post the video with ill or malicious intent.

Understandably, people were angry with the video he put out. Carelessly filming a hanging man and joking around and sharing it to his YouTube where his primary audience is children and teens. He didn't take the situation seriously and

The Lawsuit

While Logan wasn't removed from the platform, he was sued for this incident, rightfully so. On February 12th, CEO Susan Wojcicki said that "Paul did not violate YouTube's three-strike policy and did not meet the criteria for being banned from the platform." [3] Logan was sued by a production agency called Planeless Pictures for

The lawsuit claims:

Paul “knew that the broadcast of the suicide would have a substantial impact on his followers and would also have a serious adverse impact on Planeless.” [6]

The YouTuber “intended to take advantage of the substantial anticipated exposure that the broadcast of the suicide would generate and thus enhance Paul's celebrity and acted in reckless disregard for the adverse consequences that he knew would result to Planeless" [6]

On or about January 22nd, 2018, Google terminated its partnership with Planeless and declined to distribute their movie, "Airplane Mode," which Logan starded in, citing the suicide broadcast as a noncurable event as per their agreement. "As a result, Planeless never received the compensation that Google was contractually obligated to pay to it — $3,500,000," the documents allege. [6] The company is now pursuing Logan to reimburse this sum along with other general and consequential damages, as well as attorney's fees and legal expenses.

Aftermath

After the video was released, he was cut from the Google Performed program which allows advertisers to pay to place their ads on high-performing videos on its site and in an interview he mentioned he lost $5 million from it. He also lost sponsorship/brand deals, his YouTube Red series "Foursome", and more. In 2018, according to Social Blade, he lost 6k+ subscribers since the incident and at that time he was at 15.2 million subscribers.

But despite the backlash from the incident, he continued to gain over 300,000 (2018) and has continued to rebuild himself and grow from the situation. Logan Paul continued vlogging on February 4th, after a 3 week long break, and has remained successful at 23.5 million subscribers and is at 6 billion views receiving an average of 5+ million views per videos (2024). He is still successful and will likely remain successful if he continues to move on the right track. He is the co-founder of 'Prime' beverages. And starting in 2018 he has run the 'Impaulsive' podcast which has over 4 million YouTube subscribers and is overall a successful podcast. "As a wrestler, he has been signed to WWE since June 2022, where he performs on the SmackDown brand and is the current WWE United States Champion in his first reign." [3]

I just want you to know there really is a chance things can get better. A lot of times just one decision can change your whole entire life and open up new opportunities.

I ran out of all hope at one point and now my life is wildly different. I'm very happy now and I've started a whole new life. I hope before you make your decision you can try everything you can to have hope and make bold/risky/new choices to change your life.

Unfortunately this isn't true for everyone “it gets better “ is a lie. Sometimes you have to jump through hoops for it.

It can get better with new people places and things, decisions etc. I didn't believe it myself until I experienced it.

Jaylen Fryberg was born July 31, 1999 and attended Marysville - Pilchuck High School in Marysville, WA. On October 24, 2014 Jaylen took the lives of 4 friends, injuring 1 who survived, and then ended his own life.

Leading Up to the Shooting/ Motive

Days before the shooting Jaylen's girlfriend Shilene George broke up with him, when asked why she said she had no choice after he behaved violently towards her.

For days leading up to the shooting Jaylen tried to contact Shilene constantly and started messaging her cousin when she blocked him.

Timeline/The Day of the Shooting

October 24, 2014

! i couldn't find an exact time but at some point during the morning Jaylen convinces his friends to skip a class and meet him in the cafeteria.

7:44 AM: Jaylen typed a lengthy group text to his family describing how he wants his funeral, who his belongings are to be given to, and his final wishes.

“I want to be fully dressed in Camo in my casket, make sure all of my trust money or whatever goes to my brother.”

“Apologize to [blank/redacted] parents and tell them that I didn't want to go alone. And who would be better to go with them then the one and only [blank/redacted], also apologize to Andrews fam and [blank/redacted] fam for me taking them with me. But I needed my ride or dies with me on the other side. I LOVE YOU FAMILY! I really do! More than anything, I needed to do this tho … I wasn't happy. And I need my crew with me too. I'm sorry. I love you.“ He spent the majority of early morning classes typing out the last message he would send them.

10:25 AM: He contacted either a friend or the cousin of Shilene through FB messenger. He told them to have Shilene call him before he follows through.

10:37 AM: Jaylen texts his dad “Read the letter on my bed, Dad I love you.”

A few seconds after this text he sent out the message he had spent the morning typing to a family group chat.

At 10:39 AM Jaylen opened fire on his friends sitting at the cafeteria table with him, going clockwise around the table.

I just colored it in myself because only 1 victim, besides the 2 girls directly to the right who immediately fled, survives.

By 10:43 AM the police verify that the shooter is down after Jaylen turned the gun on himself.

Aftermath/Victims

!Because of the age of the victims NO crime scene photos have ever been released. I will leave photos of the victims below though.

It should be noted that Gia, Shaylee, and Andrew did not die instantly and died in hospital between 2 days and 2 weeks following the shooting.

After the shooting many were surprised at the local reaction, many grieved over Jaylen as well as the other victims. Even some of the victim's family members came to Jaylen's defense, saying he committed a horrible act but was a genuine soul who needed help. He is even included on memorial's for that day.

Andrew Fryberg, the 3rd victim, was Jaylen's cousin.

On March 31, 2015 Jaylen's father Ray Fryberg was arrested for 5 guns he had bought after an unverified background check. He was not legally allowed to own guns and one of the guns purchased was the Beretta later used in the shooting.

The families have also filed an $18 million lawsuit following the tragedy.

Edit: Shilene (the ex gf) was not hurt during the shooting, she lived in a different county.

Jeffrey James Weise, born August 8 1988.

It seems that many people knew Jeff Weise, but few knew him well. He was described as a loner, although this is not true since he had some friends, students say that he was sometimes bullied, but as he was tall and strong, they only attacked him with words, Jeff rarely responded to the provocations. Jeff was always wearing black clothes and drawing skulls and swastikas in his notebooks and he contributed to racist websites. Jeff hadn't been to school for several months. He was expelled for violating school rules and was in a program that offered in-home tutoring. Some people remembered him as quiet, friendly and non-threatening, others said they were afraid of him. Ashley Morrison says she and her friends thought Jeff was "weird".

"We always suspected he would do something, but nothing like this." It seems like everyone remembers Jeff Weise as an introvert. Wanda Baxter had him as a student in her traditional culture class in Red Lake two years ago. She said he was quiet, never a troublemaker “He was a good listener".

Jeff had grown up with a difficult and disrupted family life; his parents were a young unmarried couple who separated before he was born. His mother, Joanne Weise, was 17 years old at the time of his birth. Joanne's family insisted that she give up her son to the father, Daryl Lussier Jr., who lived with his parents and family in Red Lake. Jeff did not live with his mother again until after he was two years old, when she reclaimed him and took him to live in Minneapolis. In later online postings, Weise wrote that his mother was an alcoholic and was sometimes physically and emotionally abusive. In 1992, his mother began dating a man who allegedly also abused Jeff. After having two children, the couple married on June 27, 1998. Weise moved around often because of his mother, and attended several different schools during his adolescence. In 2002, Weise was forced to repeat the eighth grade because of failing grades and truancy. In 1997, when Jeff was eight years old, his father died by suicide aged 32, shooting himself after a days-long standoff with Red Lake tribal police. Weise's grandfather, Daryl Lussier Sr., was a sergeant with the tribal police and was involved in the standoff. Two years later, his mother was in an alcohol-related car accident and suffered severe brain damage. She had to be committed to a nursing home for rehabilitation. Jeff was placed in the custody of his paternal grandmother, having to leave Minneapolis, where he had lived most of his life, to live with her and other paternal relatives on the Red Lake reservation.

Jeff became close to his paternal grandfather and his younger companion, Michele Sigana, who had given him his own room with them. The family said he had a good relationship with both. In 2000, his mother and her husband separated; they completed the divorce in May 2004. Their custody arrangements covered only the children they had together, and not Weise. By 2003, his mother had moved to an assisted-living facility; she had recovered enough from her accident to work part-time, and had regained speech. Jeff chose to stay with his grandmother rather than rejoin his mother and move again.

Jeff was discovered to have been quite active on the Internet. According to "The Smoking Gun", Weise created two violent Flash animations for the flash website Newgrounds, using the alias "Regret". One animation, entitled "Target Practice", features a character who murders three people with a rifle, blows up a police car with a grenade, and kills a Klansman. The 30-second animation ends with the shooter putting the gun in his mouth and pulling the trigger. Weise had created another Flash animation, entitled "Clown", in which a clown kills a man by eating his head. A LiveJournal account, apparently created by Weise, contained three entries posted between December 2004 and January 2005. The weblog was customized to be rendered in black and white. In his posts, Weise expressed his desire for change and salvation in his life.

On one occasion, he fought with a pupil whom he referred to as a "Communist". He also alleged that the school was warned that someone was going to "shoot up" the school on April 20, the birthday of Adolf Hitler and the anniversary of the Columbine High School massacre, and that the school authorities "pinned" the threat on him.

Later Weise was found to have posted numerous online comments expressing his frustration with living in Red Lake, and feelings that his life was beyond his control. He described the reservation "as a place where people 'choose alcohol over friendship', where women neglect 'their own flesh and blood' for relationships with men, where he could not escape 'the grave I'm continually digging for myself'". His depression led him to attempt suicide in May 2004, when he cut his wrist. 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴:

The day of the shooting, Jeff retrieved a Ruger MK II .22 caliber pistol from his bedroom and fatally shot his grandfather as he was sleeping; he shot him two times in the head and ten times in the chest. According to Weise's friends, the teenager may have had the gun for as long as a year. He took Lussier's two police-issue weapons, a .40 caliber Glock 22 pistol and a 12 gauge Remington 870 pump-action shotgun, a gun belt and a bulletproof vest. Weise then fatally shot Sigana, his grandfather's girlfriend, two times in the head as she carried laundry up the stairs.

Jeff then drove his grandfather's squad car to Red Lake Senior High School, arriving at around 2:45 p.m. CST. As he entered the school through the main entrance, he encountered two unarmed security guards manning a metal detector. Weise shot and killed security guard Derrick Brun with the shotgun, while the other security guard escaped without injury. Weise proceeded into the main corridor of the school.

Jeff began shooting into an English classroom, killing three students and one teacher, and wounding three students. One student said that Chase Lussier (no direct relation to Weise's father or grandfather) sheltered her, and was one of those shot and killed by Weise. Jeffrey May, a 16-year-old sophomore, tried to wrestle Weise inside the classroom and stabbed him in the stomach with a pencil. May's diversion allowed students to flee the classroom to safety, but Weise shot him two times in the neck and once in the jaw, leaving him seriously injured.

Witnesses said Weise smiled as he was shooting at people. One witness said that he asked a student if he believed in God. This is believed to have been a reference to a widely publicized exchange during the 1999 Columbine High School massacre between perpetrator Dylan Klebold and Columbine survivor Valeen Schnur.

At around 2:52 p.m., Jeff returned to the main entrance, where he killed two students and wounded two others. The police had arrived quickly and engaged him in gunfire. FBI Special Agent Paul McCabe said the shootout lasted for about four minutes. None of the police officers were injured. After being hit three times in the lower back, right leg, and right arm by police gunfire, Weise retreated to the classroom where he had shot and killed the teacher and students. Remaining students in the class witnessed him lean against a wall, put the shotgun barrel to his chin, and fired, killing himself.

The shootings lasted nine minutes. Jeff fired a total of 59 shots during the shooting spree, 14 at his grandfather's home and 45 at the school. He fired 37 rounds from his grandfather's Glock handgun, 14 from his Ruger handgun, and eight from the shotgun.
