What is Pica?

Pica is an eating disorder that is sometimes also classified as a mental disorder. It causes the affected person to uncontrollably eat stuff that isn't considered food. Sibstances consumed can be hair, chalk, stones, earth, animal feces, clay and more. People with Pica often don't report their behaviour or seek help because they are embarrassed and ashamed of it.

Who can be affected

Since it is a mental disorder, everyone can get infected. Most common are children and people with mental disorders like schizophrenia or obsessive compulsive disorder.

Problems that Pica can cause

The issues that result from Pica are very different, depending on what you're eating.

Hair: Digestive issues. Hair can form blockades and get stuck.

(Animal) feces: Can contain parasites and germs that make you very ill.

Dirt or clay: Parasites.

Rocks: Can puncture or rupture internal tissue.

Chalk: Irritates the stomach and can cause vomiting.

In other cases, Pica can cause poisioning which can lead to death.

If the affected person only eats those things, it can lead to starvation (because those things don't have calories, duh).

Pica can also cause your teeth to get damaged.

Why the fuck do people eat random stuff

The exact causes of Pica aren't specified but patients often have neurodevelopment disorders.

Diagnosis

Diagnostic criteria for diagnosis of pica according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) states that the following four criteria must be met:

-persistent eating of nonnutritive, nonfood substances over a period of at least 1 month

-the eating of nonnutritive, nonfood substances is inappropriate to the developmental level of the individual

-the eating behavior is not part of a culturally supported or socially normative practice

-if the eating behavior occurs in the context of another mental disorder (e.g. intellectual disability (intellectual developmental disorder), autism spectrum disorder, schizophrenia) or medical condition (including pregnancy), it is sufficiently severe to warrant additional clinical attention

Take care of your bodies

This is an old set, been posted here and there for about 15 years now. I haven't seen it on WA though, and a brief search indicates that most older versions of it have fallen off of wherever they were warehoused.

This occurred in Victoria, Mexico back in 2007. The decedent is a 19 year old college student named Kenia Martinez Cabriales. She was out drinking at the bar with some friends and wound up flirting with a young man who was buying them all drinks. When the night ended, he offered her a ride home. Not sure whether to his place (likely) or her place (possible), but her friends said she was happy to go with him. He was attractive, wealthy, and driving a very nice BMW. Unfortunately, he was also staggering drunk. Less than 2 miles from the bar, he smashed the BMW into a light post while going an estimated speed of more than 80mph. The guy suffered only minor injuries, but his date hit the dashboard with her face and suffered a strong enough head injury to kill her on the spot.

Her family attempted to sue him for the damages, but his wealth and connections allowed him to evade both criminal and civil penalties. He wound up being ordered to pay her family the equivalent some of 16 US dollars for the death of their daughter.

On June 26th 2024, a 19-year-old from Newcastle, Australia (whose identity has not been released as of now) uploaded his 200-page manifesto online before starting a livestream on twitch where he would try to attack The Newcastle Museum, but would not attack anyone and later get arrested like a pussy.

In his shitty little manifesto he cites Brenton Tarrant as inspiration and has a black sun on the cover yet says he isn't a nationalist, insults his own country and cries about poor brown people being oppressed.

PARKLAND, FLORIDA, USA – FEBRUARY 14, 2018 The video shows the school shooting from the perspective of a student hiding in one of the classrooms. Finally, a policeman enters the room and the students are saved. Except for one. He was lying wounded in a pool of blood.

This school shooting was committed by 19-year-old former student Nikolas Cruz. He murdered 17 people and seriously injured another 17. He fired headlong at students and school staff. Unlike other school shootings, Cruz did not commit suicide but fled to nearby Coral Springs, where he contacted students on the phone who gave his location to police and was arrested.

The reason for his act was supposed to be hatred towards people. Before the act, he recorded several recordings on his mobile phone, where he describes personal feelings and enthusiasm for killing. These videos were played during his trial. He was sentenced to life imprisonment.

On August 28, 2022, a gunman "Ethan Miller" Shot and killed two people and injured two others at a Safeway supermarket in Bend, Oregon. He then committed suicide when police entered the building.

Perpetrator

Born October 31, 2001, Miller lived in the nearby Fox Hollow apartment building with his mother and his younger brother. Miller attended and graduated at Mountain View High School, according to a former classmate of Mountain View High, Miller would often get into trouble at school and 'Picked on" other students. Miller would describe his high school experiences much differently, saying that he had "No Good Memories About That School" in one of his writings, however giving no reason or story as to why.

At some point Miller's mental health started to decline and he started to become infatuated by the Columbine shooting, he purchased several firearm's and began to write a journal titled "The Downward Spiral of Ethan Miller" over the course of a month. In the journal he blames society for "creating him" and claims that he wanted to murder people due to isolation, loneliness, feuds with his family and frustrations at being unable to find a girlfriend.

Miller planned to attacking his former high school, Mountain View High School on September 8 2022. However he did not go through with this as he "couldn't wait long enough for the high school to reopen" He would also write posts on Wattpad talking about his thoughts and emotions.

During this time he would also upload videos of him shooting guns, edits and photos on YouTube and Instagram.

Preparations

On August 28, 2022, Miller would post a journal on Wattpad titled "Goodbye"

He then presumably loads and equips his weapons. A Radical Firearms RF-15 rifle and a Stevens Model 320 shotgun. At some point Miller Puts two molotov cocktails and a sawed-off shotgun in the trunk of his 1997 Ford F-250.

The Shooting

At 7:03 pm Miller then leaves his apartment and walks outside to his truck, for some unknown reason Miller fires three times into his truck and then walks away.

at 7:04 pm Miller began to fire into the Costco parking lot as he was walking to the forum shopping center. Once he had reached the parking lot of the Forum shopping center at 7:06 pm he fires into the Big Lots store adjacent to Safeway. After this he can be seen on CCTV walking right by the big lots store heading towards the Safeway supermarket.

At 7:07 pm he reaches the Safeway and fires through the front doors and enters the building.

As he enters the building in he discards his empty magazine and inserts a new one. After reloading his weapon he spots and fires at Glenn Bennett fatally wounding him.

He then begins to aimlessly roam around the store moving through aisles and shooting at random objects, he then reloads his weapon another time and fiddles around with his equipment for a brief moment. Miller then encounters another person and walks toward them as they stumble away, Miller throws something to his left and presumably talks to the man for a moment, he then quickly raises his rifle and fires off to the right missing the man as he plays dead.

Miller then begins to walk down the frozen meat section wildly firing at the displays and freezers, however up ahead of him is Donald Surrett Jr who was hiding behind a produce cart with a knife. Once Miller approaches the produce cart Surrett jumps and stabs him with the knife and attempts to disarm Miller causing Miller to drop his shotgun. Unfortunately Miller manages to overpower Surrett and kills him, he then drops his rifle and picks his shotgun back up and shoots Surrett with it.

He then begins to walk down the fruit section and racks his shotgun, however immediately after doing so Miller hears police enter the store and quickly ducks down and lays on the fruit display, putting the barrel of the shotgun in his mouth. At 7:08 he then pulls the trigger killing himself, police then rush to the gunshot only to find Miller dead and the body of Surrett nearby.

Aftermath

The shooting lasted 5 minutes and killed 1 and injured 2, Bennett would later die in hospital raising the total to 2 killed and 2 injured.

After the shooting the families of Bennett and Surrett would both start a gofundme. Bennett would raise 58,651$ and Surrett would raise 128,984$ for a total of 187,635$ together.

The video recorder of the accident witness recorded the last seconds of the lives of four people. The tragedy occurred on July 31 on the Polazna-Chusovoy highway. A 56-year-old woman in a Skoda Fabia car collided with a Scania tractor. From the impact, the truck flew into the oncoming lane and crushed the Lada Grant and Nissan Qashqai cars. A female driver of Skoda and three of her passengers, including a child, were killed. The driver and passenger of "Grants" were hospitalized.

On Monday, May 16th 1983 24 year old Robert O. Wickes, a substitute teacher and teachers aid for Brentwood East Junior High School came in and looking for 15 year old Luis Burgos and the principle. The reason for the shooting was because on Wednesday, May 4, Luis Burgos, a 15-year-old student, was talking in class when Robert ordered him to stop talking and stand up. Luis refused. Robert then went to the boy's desk, pulled it away from him and struck Luis. Luis began to fight back by throwing punches. Because of this fight, Robert, 24, was dismissed from his job. Luis was suspended for twelve days. Robert sought revenge on Luis and the school and executed his plan for Monday.

Motive: Revenge after losing a fight to a 15 year old student

Robert walked into the Junior High wearing Army fatigues armed with a .22-caliber semi-automatic Ruger rifle and 100 rounds of ammunition. Robert entered the school near noon and walked into a social studies classroom (Room 201). Inside the classroom Robert held 18 students hostage and kicked the teacher out of the classroom, he told the kids to lie on the floor. Robert said "I'm not leaving here alive, you kids messed up my career", after this the principle peered through the doors window, Robert noticed and shot at him, the bullet hit his left cheek, the principle then rushed to call police and order the school into lockdown. After this Robert shot 15 year old Luis Burgos twice, once in his stomach and the other in his hand. Another student named Wilfred Mercado told reporters that Luis couldn't breath so he told Robert '"I'm taking him out", as he grabbed Luis and carried him out of the building. As school officials evacuated the building and parents first arrived to the scene, Luis and the principle were both taken to Southside hospital, and the 11 HOUR standoff between Robert and The Suffolk County Police began.

The Suffolk County Police hostage negotiating team managed to contact Robert through the schools intercom telephone system. Roberts first request was for a radio where he listened to his favorite songs, those songs included the Beatles' "Penny Lane", "Angie" by the Rolling Stones and "Lonely People" by America. Robert made no overt threats, but he fired shots into the corridor outside the classroom four times. During the late afternoon, Robert demanded that a statement be read over radio station WBLI in Patchogue. The statement, entitled, "My Epistle to the World," was read at intervals through the late afternoon and evening. It said: "I would first like to express my gratitude to those who cared yet lacked the courage to show it. I cried and no one heard. So now I cry again. I cry on you, you dirty slime. You turned your backs, so now I reciprocated, you see. You have kept me down because I was right. I have the character, you have the power, power wins. Even so, I will paint the road with carnage. Good day, Bob Wickes."

As the readings and music continued into the evening, hostages were released with increasing regularity, about one every hour. Their parents greeted them in tearful reunions at the school. One hostage, Joann O'Keefe, said: "I feel nervous and shaken. I really was. I thought he would try to kill us. At first, I thought it was a fake gun. But then, he shot Luis and he started looking at his stomach and saying 'I can't breathe. I can't breathe.' "Then he started bleeding and everyone went crazy. We all went onto the floor and started screaming. We thought he was going to shoot us. At the very end, he was very nice to us. He let us sit up at our desks. He let us go to the bathroom." As the time passed it was suddenly near the end. Robert said at the start that he knew he was not going to leave the school alive. Soon it was just Robert and a 14 year old student named Bryant Lopez. , WBLI played his last request, "Fooling Yourself," and as the music ended, he shot himself. Bryant, then ran from the room and down the stairs to the hostage team.

Background of Robert

Born on an unknown date in 1958 Robert was a quite boy with no signs of any mental illness' growing up he was defined as a loner, he kept to himself and didnt have many friends in high school. He graduated form Brentwood High School in 1977 and graduated from Suffolk County Community College in 1980. He applied for a job at the junior high in November 1981, when he was hired as a part-time teachers aid. Robert had worked on 12 to 15 occasions and had done a "fine job". He was paid $20 a day. While working for the school system, Robert apparently also worked from time to time for the Town of Smithtown as a sanitation man.

The accident occurred on January 7 at 13:30 on the 62nd kilometer of the Uralsk-Atyrau highway in Kazakhstan. Chevrolet Nexia and Toyota Ipsum cars collided head-on. The moment of collision got into the lens of the eyewitness's video recorder
