Marco Pacheco Puga, a municipal employee in charge of urban sanitation in Loja, was run over this Sunday, July 31, while doing his job in the bicycle lane of Sozoranga Street. This fact caused consternation among municipal employees, family and friends of the man, 36 years old.

Pacheco was collecting solid waste from the lane used by cyclists at around 4:00 a.m. when the driver of a car lost control of his vehicle and rammed him, according to information provided by the canton's traffic authorities.

After running over him, according to images captured by security cameras near the accident, the car also crashed into another vehicle and a house.

The Municipality of Loja regretted what happened and informed that the driver of the vehicle tested positive for alcohol.

The municipal worker, who died instantly on the road, was married and leaves three children. In view of this fact, relatives and friends are requesting an investigation and punishment of the person responsible for the traffic accident, whose identity is unknown.

According to article 376 of the Integral Penal Code (COIP), this type of incident is punishable - with the aggravating circumstance of alcohol consumption - with ten to twelve years imprisonment and the revocation of the driver's license for life.

Lojanos reproached this fact through their social networks. One of them, identified as Felipe, said: "The law should make him pay (compensate) the person who caused this death as the law requires. He has 3 minor children". (I)

A man was shot dead and a minor was seriously injured after a violent attack that took place on the afternoon of Monday, August 1, on 4th Street of the 9 de Octubre neighborhood, in the south of Guayaquil.

A few meters from the house of a relative, the victim died inside a car that ended up on a sidewalk, with traces of the projectiles in the windows and body on both sides.

Upon arrival of the police units, several meters around the area were cordoned off, both on 4th street and 6th avenue of that neighborhood.

There, police personnel confirmed the death of the man, about 39 years old, who was hit by the projectiles, despite the special protection that the car had.

Likewise, a 3-year-old child, who was wounded and was probably the victim's son, was taken to a medical center with several wounds.

At the crime scene, the police collected at least fifteen ballistic traces. The remains of ammunition, which ended up scattered on a stretch of the road, would be from an AK-47 automatic weapon, according to police personnel.

"It can be observed that the vehicle has some armor; but, due to the power of the ammunition, it has not been of much use. We believe that the vehicle was in motion when it arrived at its destination," said JosΓ© Luis Erazo, chief of the Southern District of the Police, who said that it was still being investigated whether there were more passengers in the car.

The police chief said that the minor had to undergo surgery to save his life.

Regarding the motive of the attack, Erazo said that they are still investigating the characteristics of the assailant who shot and damaged both sides of the vehicle, both on the driver's and passenger's side. "We are making the inquiries (...). That we will determine when we have more elements of conviction", said the police chief.

It was known that the victim managed a vehicle sales yard, and had a record for illegal possession of weapons, robbery and forgery.

Agents of the Judicial Police were reviewing security cameras installed in the area to advance the investigations to determine further details of those responsible for the new violent death.

After the first inquiries, in a security camera in the area, the police observed a man getting out of a Kia Sportage, attacking the vehicle several times and fleeing the scene. A vehicle with similar characteristics was abandoned and incinerated in the southwest minutes later.

nigerian soldiers cut open the neck of a captured man

Description from source

Sickening video shows the moment an army couple was beheaded and mutilated while heading to Nigeria’s Imo state for their traditional wedding.

Nigeria’s military has linked the beheading of the army couple to the Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob), a separatist group in Nigeria that aims to achieve the independence of Biafra, a state which seceded from Nigeria prior to the Nigerian Civil War (1967-1970) and was later rejoined into Nigeria after its defeat by the Nigerian military.

The couple was beheaded and killed over the weekend while heading to Nigeria’s Imo state for their traditional wedding. The gruesome video shows the male victim laying lifeless on the ground with a huge gash on his neck. Two more lifeless bodies can be seen behind the man in a shallow grave. The woman, still alive, is naked, according to the footage. A man then lays her on her back before decapitating her as well. Following the beheading, the man then proceeds to slice off her genitalia.

Army spokesman Onyema Nwachukwu condemned the killings as β€œgruesome, barbaric and most despicable”. He further accused the armed wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob) for the murders.β€œThe Nigerian army will ensure the perpetrators of this dastardly act unleashed on its personnel do not go unpunished,” Nwachukwu said in a statement.Ipob has yet to respond to the accusations made by the Nigerian Army.

TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - The man accused of murdering a store clerk in Tupelo appeared before a judge for the first time Tuesday morning.

Chris Copeland, 26, of Tupelo, is charged with capital murder, meaning he’s eligible for the death penalty.

Tupelo police said Copeland tried to rob a Chevron store Sunday morning, Sept. 11. During the attempted robbery, he allegedly shot Parmvir Singh, 33, of Tupelo, in the head.

During his court appearance, investigators said Copeland pretended to make a purchase and Singh was behind the counter.

Police said Singh surrendered some money and opened a safe for Copeland. Copeland then ordered Singh to the floor, jumped over the counter, then shot the victim, according to authorities.

Copeland ripped out what he believed to be surveillance footage and left the store, police said.

β€œWith 27 years in law enforcement, this may be one of the worst ones I’ve ever seen,” Police Chief John Quaka said. β€œThe victim was literally executed in the back of the head inside his store where he was trying to make a living. It is just absolutely outrageous. The prosecutor said it best β€” β€˜it’s monstrous.’”

Copeland was denied a bond.

Quaka said Copeland has a criminal history. He previously faced burglary and larceny charges. Copeland was free on MDOC probation at the time of his arrest on Sunday and had an outstanding warrant.
