My sons best friend lost his dad because a dump truck driver swerved to avoid a fucking dumbass turkey. Dad dead, driver ok minor injuries, turkey just fucking fine.

That is the stupid shit when people can buy their driver license for under 100$. We in Germany pay a lot for a driver license (today it's around 1.5k - 2.5k €) but that includes around 10 -14 hours of lessons and you also need to graduate a first aid course, multiple hours of driving and an strict test on the computer. And in the lessons they always say to hold the steering wheel straight on animal obstacles

We have almost same thing in Latvia 1.5k-2k euro to get drivers license too, but our salaries way 2 smaller, anyway we have 1 theory test at driving school, then 1 theory test at country institution. We have to pass driving school practical exam, and also practical exam at country institution, same thing with first aid course. I think that is how we should learn how to drive. So many imbeciles everywhere on the road

Background:
On the Yaojiazui section of "Yigong Road" from Yibin to Gongxian County, Sichuan, a taxi traveling from Gongxian County to Yibin collided with a truck on the opposite side.
According to the video taken by the passers-by at the scene, the left side of the accident taxi was hit and dented, and at least three occupants were pulled out of the car and placed on the side of the road. The video showed that the injured were all covered with cloth. Another video shows that fire rescue personnel rushed to rescue after the incident, cutting the car body and trying to rescue the man trapped in the cab. The suspected driver fell down in the co-pilot position and did not move.
On the night of the 25th, there was a suspected car surveillance video circulated in several WeChat groups in Yibin, showing that there were three people sitting in the back row at the time of the incident, two women and one man, and one of the young female passengers wearing glasses had been engrossed in playing with her mobile phone beforehand. After the moment of the collision, the video was not interrupted, showing that the three people in the back row had not moved. An insider in Gongxian County, who did not want to be named, told Red Star News that the taxi was driving from Gongxian City to Yibin, and the incident occurred only about three kilometers from the nearest point in Yibin City.
Red Star News learned from relevant departments in Yibin that there was indeed a traffic accident at the site of the accident on the afternoon of the 25th, and the specific situation will be notified later.

You don’t see it because you have to go frame by frame to understand it. In about the span of 1 second their heads are whipped to the left, the side of impact, where all of them hit their head on either each other or the roof (Woman on the left hits man’s shoulder, man hits woman on right’s shoulder and the roof of the car, woman on right hits the frame of the car and the roof twice) After this, within that second, their bodies just rest back down and their heads don’t move. within the next second more impacts happen from the car stopping, but that’s about it for the people inside. They all die within the second from slamming into each other or the car frame / roof

Yup, that’s why i’m racing series it’s almost always mandatory, even in the lowest racing classes, with the slowest cars, to have a HANS device that stops your neck from moving too far forward or side to side. In this case, in a passenger vehicle in the backseat, there’s not much they have to save them though. The speed of them whipping, their necks snapped most likely, and then plus all the skull fractures visible with the bleeding, add onto that, the brain itself……

Wow... I've never seen anything like that before where people were killed in such a short amount of time. All 3 went from alive and minding their own business to dead in the blink of an eye, and as Duchess said a few comments below me, it wasn't gory or even particularly graphic in any way. For how violent of an impact it must have been to kill all 3 of them that fast, I would have expected to see mutilated bodies with missing limbs and unrecognizable features. Except for the twitching from the guy in the middle immediately following the impact, it just looks like they all just fell asleep, like someone edited together a clip of them awake and then asleep a few hours later and cut out everything in between. I must have replayed that like 20 times, it was like I didn't really believe what I knew I had just seen. If you just grabbed a still frame from the last few seconds of this video and showed it to someone while asking what they think happened, I bet most people wouldn't even realize that all 3 had just been killed seconds before in a fatal crash... I mean the only visible injury is a decent scrape to the forehead of the passenger on the far right.

Since they weren't wearing seatbelts, when the car came to a stop during the crash with a truck, their internal organs continued to travel at the same speed until they smashed against the ribcage. Their internal injuries and brain damage are catastrophic.

Seat belt wouldn't have done shit to save them. Seat belts don't magically counteract physical law. No way to beat out inertia when you have liquid insides. Plus, one girl suffered an internal decapitation. They were dead no matter which way you flipped it.

Obviously, I can't speak to their survivability in this exact situation. But seatbelts stretch to slow you down as you get flung during a crash, even a fraction of a second slower deceleration dramatically reduces the amount of impact force your body experiences, and thus lowers your chance of death. They'd still be fucked up, sure, but I think they'd be safer getting hit in the chest with a seatbelt over a few miliseconds than instantly decelerating into the seat in front of them.

They all died from whiplash injuries or damage from their head going sideways into the frame/ roof of the car, the cars roof was caved in so much it was touching the woman’s head while she’s sitting in the rear drivers side door. A seatbelt wouldn’t have done, literally anything in this. seatbelts really help in front impacts, getting t-boned, all that can save you is the strength of the b-pillar and MAYBE in a racing car, a roll cage, 5 point harness, and bucket seat, but even then look at what happened to ryan newman in the daytona 500 in 2020, that dude barely made it out from that t-bone crash on the a-pillar and door
