The young man, who could not move away quickly enough as the lift jerked upwards, is caught between the floor of the lift and the top of the door, where he is crushed to death.
The video footage is from a surveillance camera fixed inside the malfunctioning lift at Huaqiao University, in the city of Xiamen in south-east China's Fujian Province.
Rescue workers rushed to free the young man's body, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, having suffocating because his lungs were crushed and he was unable to breathe.

Mexican boxer Jeanette Zacarias Zapata has died at the age of 18, five days after being knocked out in a professional 
fight.
Zapata was knocked out in the fourth round 
against Marie 
Pier Houle on Saturday night 
at the GVM Gala International in Montreal.
She suffered a series 
of power 
punches in the corner of the ring and was stunned 
by an uppercut towards the end of the fourth round, before 
a right 
hook caused her mouthguard to fly out, leaving her unable to return 
to the corner after the bell rang.
Zapata, who appeared to convulse while still standing, was joined by her partner and trainer Jovanni Martinez, who quickly laid her down in the ring. The on-site medical team rushed to her side and she was immobilized on a stretcher before being rushed to a hospital 
by ambulance.
Fight promoter Yvon Michel briefed on Sunday that Zapata had been placed in a medically induced coma, and confirmed her death 
on Thursday.

The youth died after a stone board fell while being photographed outside the Akshaya Patra temple. The young man had gone to visit the temple with friends. While returning, friends were posing near the stone board outside the temple, when the accident happened. The incident took place at Jagatpura in Jaipur at 12 noon on Monday. The live video of the accident has surfaced on Tuesday. Police said that the deceased is Devvrat Shukla (32), a resident of Bandikui. Devvrat's friend Bhupesh told that on Saturday he had come to Jaipur to withdraw PF money. When the PF office was closed, he stayed at a friend's flat in Jaipur. On Monday we went out to see the plot in Goner. On the way, Devvrat asked to visit the Akshayapatra temple. After darshan we stopped to take selfie. Devvrat was photographing standing near the pillar of the stone board outside the temple. During this, suddenly the pillar slipped and collided with the young man's head and fell. The young man got buried under the pillar. His friend pulled him out and took him to a nearby hospital. Where the young man died during treatment.

A 3-year-old girl died after a glass door of a garment showroom fell on her in Ludhiana. According to eyewitnesses, the girl was swinging around the door, holding the handle when the entire structure fell on her, causing severe injuries.

Tavas, Turkey
The deputy head of the branch of the opposition Republican People's Party, Mehmet Palaz, died when the balcony collapsed during the celebration of the election victory.
A day earlier, it was learnt that Kadir Tatik, a member of the Republican People's Party, won the elections in Tavas district. His supporters celebrated the victory on the street in front of the party building. The incident which occurred in the Turkish city of Denizli also left seven others injured.
The accident occurred overnight as party members and supporters gathered to celebrate the victory of Kadir Tatik in his campaign for the local municipality head's office, after preliminary results of the election were announced.
Footage from the scene shows multiple party members gathered on a balcony of a building, with a crowd of onlookers cheering them on outside. The balcony is seen abruptly collapsing, coming clean off the rest of the structure.
According to Milliyet, when some people climbed to the second floor of the building, one of the balconies collapsed. As a result, eight people were injured, three of them in serious condition.
When the balcony collapsed, Mehmet Palaz injured his head. He was hospitalised in the city hospital in Pamukkale. He died on April 1.
Local elections in Turkey were held on March 31. In many major cities, including Ankara and Istanbul, opposition representatives won majorities.
