Four chinese workers electrocuted, three die

One of the first online death videos I remember coming across. Started me down the Chinese workers death rabbit hole and then into the Chinese truck/car/scooter/pedestrian realm. Miss some of those good sources from back in the day. Have gotten pretty hard to find.

Young Man Electrocuted Unplugging His Phone At Internet Cafe (Huangpi, China)

The incident occurred in 2016 at an internet café in Huangpi, near Wuhan, China. Factory worker, Xiong Xuan (18), frequented the café and met up with his older brother, Xiong Feng, after his shift. According to his brother, Xiong Xuan cried out and hit his leg on the steel leg of the table when he unplugged his phone from a charging cable. Despite the commotion and Xiong Xuan foaming at the mouth, nobody stepped in to help.

Sources conflict on how he got to the hospital, and the linked Chinese news articles have been taken down, but either Xiong Feng called his uncle in a panic, and he took them to the hospital where Xiong Xuan was pronounced dead 20 minutes later, or an ambulance was called, and he passed away en route.

(Neurology nerd infodump below. Here is where the post ends if you aren't interested in my rambling, haha.)

I'm no expert, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but what always fascinated me about this case was the display of a form of involuntary abnormal posturing after Xiong Feng broke the circuit. His arms can be seen curling into his chest, one of the shows of decorticate posturing. This usually occurs alongside unconsciousness or coma when someone has suffered severe trauma to their cerebral cortex and parts of the brain that control motor functions. Abnormal posturing can be seen in many videos here in which a person suffers brain damage, whether that be due to oxygen deprivation or any other type of brain injury. Once abnormal posturing can be observed, the damage is usually irreversible.

Unfortunately, even if he had survived, it would be doubtful that he would ever function normally again.
