I know it's hard, it's an addiction. My favorite trick to help me stop is by putting it off. Just continue to put it off for as long as you can, easier said than done but with practice it gets easier

it doesn't stop it completely, that's not exactly the whole point. the point is to minimize the amount you're doing it. if you're addicted to self harm you can't simply just stop. building your tolerance for how long you can go in-between is a great step to minimize the amount you relapse which will help in the long run with recovery.. small steps are still steps

Every time you have the urge, talk to a friend (or gf/bf, etc.) instead, if possible. Not necessarily about what you want to do, but just talk to someone...just to talk. You will be surprised how much it changes your thoughts.

You could try telling your problems to someone you trust, I recommend that you throw away anything that used to hurt you, it is quite difficult to stop doing it but you can surely:33

Instead of hating myself i learned to put all that effort into (for lack of better words) manipulate everyone around me to my own benefit. Worked great. 😌😂

if only it were that easy man. it can be incredibly hard to stop especially if you've been cutting for a long time. it works similarly to a drug addiction

i watch sh vids here and scratch my arms. it doesnt hurt me and i can trick my brain into thinking i already did it and theres no need to do it anymore

I like to listen to sh music and visualize im doing it and it's Alr done so it gets out my system OR gets some ice cubes dip it in red diy and use ice upon yourself and it tricks the brain

Just throw away all the blades in your house and make a rule to yourself to only use knifes for cutting food not yourself. It's not hard to stop just cold turkey it.

you don't understand, self harm can be an addiction for a lot of people, it isn't as easy as just stopping. throwing the blades away and having that rule is a great step in the right direction for recovery though. cold turkey isn't easy especially if you've been doing it for a long time.

I'm so sorry that you have this issue. Honestly all I can think of is trying to find more time in public, can't cut when you're directly in front of close family or friends

ok and so what if they cut for attention? since you selfharm id think you'd be more understanding lol, attention seeking behavior is worrying in itself and should be addressed. not saying attention seeking is good, it's often a cry for help or to feel seen or understood. OP is asking for help to STOP self harming so idk why you just call them an attention seeker when you don't know their story at all, maybe instead offer advice that helps you not relapse 🙂
