Columbus police released the body camera footage Friday of the officer who fatally shot a man Wednesday night during a chase for an alleged repeat protection order violation at a South Side home.

On Wednesday evening, a Columbus police officer shot and killed Jamie Overstreet, 36. The division will not identify the officer, citing Marsy's Law. Police say Overstreet fled by vehicle and on foot from police, and was shot while running with a gun in the Innis Garden Village neighborhood on the South Side.

Overstreet's death is the fifth fatal Columbus police shooting in less than two months, and was the first of two fatal police shootings within 24 hours in Franklin County.

Videos released Thursday of a Tennessee traffic stop that ended in a fatal shooting shows a deputy holding on to the car's steering wheel and being carried away as the vehicle speeds off, but does not show the moment when the deputy shot the driver.

Jarveon Hudspeth, 21, was shot and killed June 24 by a Shelby County Sheriff's Office deputy after the deputy approached his car and tried to stop it from leaving the scene, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

The situation escalated and Hudspeth drove off and “dragged” the deputy about 100 yards (91 meters), the bureau said in a statement, and at some point the deputy fired his gun at least once and hit the driver. The car stopped about a half-mile later (nearly a kilometer).

The videos released by the Shelby County District Attorney's Office are from the deputy's in-car and body-worn cameras, and a neighbor's doorbell camera.

The body camera video shows the deputy stopping a white two-door car in a residential neighborhood and walking up to the vehicle. The deputy asks Hudspeth for his license, and he hands it over. The deputy tells Hudspeth to get out of the car, which he does, and then checks his pockets.

The deputy says he is going to search the car, and Hudspeth returns to sit in the driver's seat. Hudspeth then hits the accelerator, and the deputy grabs onto the steering wheel. Hudspeth appears to try to push the deputy away with his leg.

The body camera video ends with it being jostled and a view of the sky and a tree. The sound of a car driving away is heard.

The dashboard camera shows the deputy climbing into the driver's side of the car and being carried away as Hudspeth drives off with the car door open. The doorbell camera only shows the car driving past.

None of the videos show the officer being dragged or the shooting itself. The reason for the traffic stop was not immediately clear from the footage, and authorities have not provided a reason either.

Hudspeth's family, their lawyer Ben Crump and activists had been pushing for release of the video. Hudspeth's family has seen it, the district attorney's office said.

I'll make a summary of what happened with some important details

Omar Felix Cueva is the man driving the white pickup truck. Cueva was a 39 year old man from California, and had a history of possession of methamphetamine, and at the time of the shooting was reportedly on his way to a drug deal with a duffel bag containing over 250,000 dollars worth of methamphetamine. Officer Darian Jarrott was told to pull over Cueva's vehicle, and he did, however once Jarrott told Cueva to exit the vehicle, Cueva exited and shot at Jarrott from across the truck bed. The first volley of shots did not hit Jarrott, but Cueva moved around the truck and shot Jarrott around 10 times, including an execution shot to the head. He then went on to drive 30 miles away, engaging with a shootout with police officers, where he was killed by police.

Jarrott's wife attempted sued the police department, as they had him pull over Cueva, without sending another officer with him, and not telling him about Cueva's criminal record, and possession of firearms. The case was dismissed by a federal judge.

Man Shot Dead by Police Due to Window Tint Violation

COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — Law enforcement officers in Coweta County were involved in a deadly shooting on Friday afternoon, deputies say.

According to Coweta County Sheriff Lenn Wood, a man pulled up behind deputies on the interstate before revving his engine and speeding past deputies. They say deputies tried pulling him over for a window tint violation, but he sped away.

Coweta deputies and Newnan police chased the suspect before it ended in a crash at the intersection of Herring Road and Palomino Drive just before 2:30 p.m.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has since identified the man killed as 27-year-old Anthony Richard Fields II.

NewsChopper 2 flew over the scene and saw dozens of shell casings surrounding a Corvette that appears to have collided with a Coweta County Sheriff's Office vehicle.

Video obtained by Channel 2 Action News shows the man getting out of the Corvette where he is attacked by a K9.

Sheriff Wood says the suspect had a gun in his hand and raised it up after getting out of the car.

In the video from the scene, several deputies and officers can be heard firing at the suspect several times. He died from his injuries.

Fatal Shooting Of Joel Villegas

https://i.watchpeopledie.tv/images/1693043812513785.webp

The family of a Tulare man killed by police released video this week they said shows he was not a threat to officers, who shot him in the back as he fled. Joel Villegas was killed by Tulare police about 3:15 p.m. April 16 after a 911 caller reported seeing someone in the area of Bardsley Ave and Vetter Street with a knife, Tulare police said in a news release. Villegas, 34, was remembered by family as a doting father and a person others wanted to be around because he made them smile. “What they did was wrong,” older brother Armando Villegas said. “It was unfair to his wife and kids and family. He mattered.” His family released video from a Tulare officer's body-worn camera that shows the officer yelling commands as Villegas runs away from him. At one point he trips, before getting up again and continuing to flee. The video shows Villegas never advanced on police before officers fired several rounds. Officers in the video can be heard saying Villegas was not breathing before an officer begins CPR. The shooting was “so egregious,” according to Dale Galipo, the attorney representing one of Villegas's sons and his father.

Moped rider gets hit with a cooler

NYC.

A man who was fleeing a drug bust on a scooter in the Bronx, New York City, has died after an undercover police officer threw a cooler at him.

Eric Duprey was attempting to get away when he crashed to the ground just after 5.20pm on Wednesday - and now NYPD Sergeant Erik Duran has been suspended while cops investigate his involvement in the fatal incident.

Sergeant Duran was working undercover on the Bronx Narcotics Division at the time, conducting a buy-and-bust operation on Aqueduct Avenue. According to police, Duprey sold drugs to the plain-clothed cop, who then tried to arrest him.

Duprey, 30, quickly fled the situation, at which point the cop threw a cooler at him - which he had snatched from a bystander who was on the street with his family.

The fatal impact from the cooler - that was filled with soda cans - caused the suspect to lose control of his scooter and strike a parked Jeep.

Father-of-three Duprey fell to the ground, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sergeant Duran was suspended early on Thursday morning.

CCTV footage shows the moment that the cooler hit the man on the Bronx street.

An image obtained by DailyMail showed the red cooler with a white handle that was lobbed at Duprey during the drug bust.

The NYPD said in a statement: 'Early today, New York City Police Department Sergeant Erik Duran was suspended from duty without pay following a fatal incident in the Bronx on Wednesday afternoon involving a man attempting to flee from the police on a motorcycle.

'The city's medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

Once officers arrived, they determined that the man did not commit a robbery, however officers attempted to take the man into custody. Henderson could not offer an answer on why police were attempting to detain the man.

Two officers deployed their Tasers, which they say did not have an effect.

Bodycam footage of police shooting actress Vanessa Marquez

South Pasadena, California — South Pasadena police released body camera footage of an officer-involved shooting that killed actress Vanessa Marquez in August 2018. Two police officers acted in "lawful self-defense" in the fatal shooting of former ER actress Vanessa Marquez, who was shot and killed in her home in South Pasadena, California, in 2018, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office has ruled.

On August 30, 2018, SPPD officers responded to an apartment located on Fremont Avenue, in the City of South Pasadena, to conduct a welfare check on Vanessa Marquez. Marquez lived in an upstairs apartment in the complex. During the contact, Marquez brandished a black BB handgun and a fatal officer involved shooting occurred.

Her family later sued the city for $450,000. However, IMO, she says "kill me" several times, suggesting she was wishing to die by suicide by police.

She was primarily known for her recurring role in the first three seasons of ER as nurse Wendy Goldman, as well as her role as Ana Delgado in the 1988 biographical drama film, Stand and Deliver.

In a recorded statement released Aug. 18, Mesquite Police Public Information Officer Aaron Paredes shared an edited video from the officer's dash camera and body camera that showed a short chase with a driver and the eventual shooting.

In their initial statement, Mesquite Police said an officer tried to pull over the driver of a Honda Pilot at about 8:45 p.m. near West Scyene and Gross roads.

Police said the driver refused to stop and began driving erratically with speeds nearing 100 mph. During a short chase, police said the driver hit multiple vehicles and a road sign before stopping in a residential front yard.

In the video released Friday, the driver can be seen getting out of the SUV and trying to get into the back seat. At the same time, the officer can be heard repeatedly yelling for the driver to "stop" and "get on the ground" or that he would be shot.

The teen moved back toward the front door, unlocked the back door and then opened the back door of the SUV.

"At this time, the officer believed that the suspect was retrieving a weapon from the vehicle, placing the officer in fear of imminent body injury or death," Paredes said.

When the driver reached into the back of the vehicle, the officer fired five times and the teen can be seen falling backward.

When backup officers arrived, they provided medical assistance before the boy was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Police said inside the vehicle they found a .45-caliber Taurus pistol loaded with three rounds in the magazine. In the video, Mesquite Police included a photo of the gun on the driver's floorboard and a second photo showing the gun, magazine and three rounds.

https://i.watchpeopledie.tv/images/16923065135561285.webp

This all started with an attempted traffic stop when a trooper spotted a car going 111 mph on Interstate 20 early Monday morning. After the car was stopped, it sped off and a chase began with the state trooper. After a PIT maneuver, the driver regained control of the car and the passenger leaned out of the window and began firing shots at the trooper using an AK47. His patrol car became disabled. One of the first shots fired from Shelton disabled Troutt's vehicle, the sheriff's office said, as he continued to advance, firing inside the vehicle striking Deputy Repetto in the arm. When the suspects crashed, they ran before opening fire at Officer Gordy. He returned fire, but was struck twice by gunfire. He was taken to Grady Hospital in Atlanta and has been released.

Police have released body camera video of the confrontation that led to an officer killing a suspect in New Jersey.

The shooting took place two weeks ago at a home on Amity Street in Elizabeth.

Officers were responding to a 911 call about a relative, 42-year-old Estiben Alegria-Hurtado, showing up at a home drunk and with a knife.

When police arrived at the apartment, the door was open, and Hurtado was scuffling with two other men.

The two men then released Hurtado, but the video shows he's still armed with a knife and close to a woman.

That's when an officer fired a single fatal shot, hitting Hurtado in the chest and killing him.

A woman could be heard saying repeatedly, "he tried to kill me."

Police are now under fire for not calling a mental health professional to help cool down the confrontation.

The shooting death of Hurtado was too raw and gut-wrenching for the family to process.

The family's spokesman said on Monday that the gunshot was unnecessary.

"In that video, it was not given any kind of command for Steven to drop the knife, it was not given any kind of command for police officers to identify themselves," civil rights activist Rev. Kevin McCall said.

No charges have been filed against the officers involved in the shooting, so far.

The New Jersey Attorney General's Office is currently investigating.
