An accident on Kendall Public Road in East Berbice Tuesday morning claimed the life of Ajay Ramchand, a 43-year-old motorcyclist.
The accident involved Motor Lorry #GAC 9627, driven by Leroy Jacobs, a 48-year-old of New Amsterdam, Berbice, and motorcycle #CK 5854, owned and driven by Ramchand of Ramphal Street, Nigg Settlement, Corentyne Berbice.
A statement from Police Headquarters noted that the lorry was proceeding east along the public road at a rate of about 65 KMP/H when motorcycle # CK 5854, which was proceeding in the opposite direction, overtook a car and, in the process, collided with the front of the lorry.
As a result of the collision, the motorcycle burst into flames.
The motorcyclist received injuries and was picked up in an unconscious state by public-spirited citizens. He was taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he was seen and examined by a doctor who pronounced him dead.
The body is at the New Amsterdam Hospital's Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination. The Lorry driver is presently in custody, assisting with the investigation

On 15 January, a Thrush S-2R-T660 Thrush 710P (registered EC-NPL) and operating for Air Andes struck a utility pole, lost control, and crashed onto Ruta 5 near Panguilemo, Chile. After impact, the aircraft burst into flames. The sole pilot on board didn't survive the impact, at least four people on the ground got injured.

On August 22nd, 1999, a China Airlines MD-11 crashes while attempting to land in a typhoon at Hong Kong. Just before landing on the runway, the aircraft banked right and its wingtip struck the ground. The aircraft rolled onto its back and skidded. It stopped upside down. There was an immediate fire near the rear of the aircraft. Among the 315 people onboard, 3 were killed.
At 18:41, while flying the runway 25L ILS approach, weather was reported to the crew being 1600 m visibility in the touchdown zone, wind 320deg/25 knots gusting to 33 knots. The aircraft was then cleared to land. At an altitude of 700 feet prior to touchdown a further wind check was passed to the crew: 320deg/28 knots gusting to 36 knots. Maximum crosswind component limit for the aircraft was 24 knots. The pilot-in-command continued with the approach, disconnected the autopilot but left auto throttle engaged. The MD-11, with a weight very close to the maximum landing weight permitted, stabilized slightly low on the glide slope. At 50 feet above the runway, upon power reduction to flight idle, the airspeed decreased from 170 to 152 knots. An attempt was made to flare in a slightly right wing down (less than 4 deg) attitude. The aircraft landed hard on its right main gear and the no. 3 engine touched the runway. The right main gear separated and the right wing separated. The MD-11 then rolled inverted as it skidded off the runway in flames. It came to rest on a grass area next to the runway, 1100 m from the runway threshold. The right wing was found on a taxiway 90 m from the nose of the plane.
The crash sequence in this case bears similarities to a Fedex MD-11 which also flipped upside down on landing at Newark.

NOTE: For those of you wondering why so few people died, here are two other perspectives from which you can see that the plane “slid” rather than “slammed” into the ground, if you can understand it, because it's a bit wobbly when you put it like that. This also explains why so few people died in the accident, and shows how safe the plane was and how quickly the passengers got out.
A similar story with Asiana Airlines Flight 214 where only 3 people died, because the plane also slid and the rescue time was fast, as was the evacuation.

Driver of Volkswagen Jetta tried overtaking truck with dashcam on the right.
He lost control, drove onto oncoming lane and crashed head on into Cherry Tigo.
One Volkswagen passenger died on spot. Both drivers and four passengers of both car were injured.

A high-powered motorcycle rider died after being involved in an accident involving four vehicles on Jalan Palong-Pasir Besar on Saturday.
Tampin District Police Chief Superintendent Anuwal Ab Wahab said the accident at 11.30am involved a lorry loaded with chicken, two high-powered Kawasaki motorcycles and a Proton X70.
According to him, the results of the investigation found that two motorcycles ridden by two men entered the lorry's path from the opposite direction before one of them hit the lorry in question.
"Another motorcycle that was behind managed to avoid but hit a Proton X70 that was behind the lorry."
"As a result of the accident, the motorcyclist in his 50s was injured and died at the scene while the rider of another motorcyclist was seriously injured," he said in a statement on Saturday.

Happened on June 10, 2020, at 4:37 pm on М-11 highway in Konakovsky District, Tver Oblast, Russia
33 years old man was driving DAF truck with Schmitz trailer towards Saint Petersburg.
40 years old man in his Land Rover was also driving in the same lane towards Saint Petersburg.
Truck crashed into the back of Land Rover, causing it to roll over and fell into pieces.
Land Rover driver wasn't wearing seatbelt and he died on spot.
At first the truck driver tried blaming the victim by saying that:
While DAF was overtaking Land Rover, the offroader lost control, crashed into a barrier and later into DAF's trailer.
His version was debunked by CCTV footage.

A woman died after being involved in an accident involving seven vehicles near Lintas Square on Jalan Lintas here on Tuesday evening.
In the incident at about 6pm, the 26-year-old victim was confirmed dead at the scene after being trapped in his vehicle which was stuck under a lorry.
Head of the Kota Kinabalu Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), Ordine Gilu, said he received a call about the incident at 6.08pm.
He said, a total of 14 members were chased to the scene of the incident which is six kilometers away from BBP Kota Kinabalu.
"According to information, the accident involved seven vehicles, namely Perodua Bezza, Perodua Myvi, Toyota Vios, Proton Saga, Proton Iriz and two lorries.
"There was a female victim trapped in a Perodua Bezza vehicle and the fire brigade managed to remove the victim but she was confirmed dead at the scene," he said in a statement on Tuesday night.

This accident took place in Missouri, crashing two homes while going airborne, killing one person who of course is the driver according to the authorities.

NEW YORK — A horrifying new video shows the moment a pedestrian was ran over twice in Queens on Saturday night.
Dashcam video of the incident shows a white SUV first knock the person over as they crossed the street at the corner of Cypress Avenue & Cooper Avenue. A black truck tailing the white SUV then runs over the pedestrian's head, the footage shows.
Whether the vehicles involved stopped and pulled over following the disturbing accident is unknown.
No further details about the incident or the victim's condition were released at the time of this report. (Won't be hard to assume if you have eyes)

A security camera has emerged regarding the accident in which the truck driver was hit by a forklift while reversing at a cement factory in Isparta and lost his life.
The accident occurred on November 25 at the Göltaş Cement Factory in the Gönen district of Isparta. According to the information obtained, SY (30), who works as a forklift driver, hit the truck driver Erol Saygıvar (61) while reversing while driving the forklift.

Rare footage of an out-of-control car crashed into the crowd killing one child in Huizhou City in southern China's Guangdong Province on May 26.
In the video, an out-of-control white car suddenly crashes into the passersby and cyclists in the middle of the road, before it bumps into a red car parked on the side of the road and stops.
A three-year-old girl held by woman was killed and three people suffered minor injuries.
The car driver was drunk driving and the case was being investigated, reports said.

A young woman died when a car ran a red light and hit pedestrians in Mersin. Footage of the accident also emerged. The footage showed the moment when the speeding car hit pedestrians, then a tree, rolled over and caught fire.
Allegedly, at around 07.20 at GMK Boulevard Demirtaş Junction in Demirtaş District of Mersin's Toroslar district, A.D. The car he was driving went out of control of its driver while passing the red light at the intersection.
The car left the road and hit pedestrians and trees. The accident turned into a war zone in which a tree fell and a fire broke out in the overturned car.
While pedestrian Sultan Sedef (32) died in the accident, 3 people including the driver were injured.
