[BodyCam] Cop Shoots Runaway Suspect

Racine, Wisconsin – The Racine County District Attorney’s Office released body camera footage of the fatal May 20 police shooting of Da’Shontay King Sr., 37, in conjunction with a decision not to press charges against the officer involved. . . . , Zachary Brenner. Police said they stopped a car while serving a search warrant for a criminal in possession of a firearm. According to police, King ran out of the car with a gun and led a police officer in a foot chase. Officer Brenner chased King over a fence and up a small hill. In the video, King then appears to drop a gun. As King lunged toward her, Officer Brenner opened fire.

Officers provided CPR, police said, but King died in hospital. The .9mm pistol was recovered from King. An analysis at the Wisconsin State Crime Lab revealed that the gun had also been used in a shooting in Edgewood and St. Patrick on April 21st. Chief Robinson says the shooting resulted in property damage. The weapon contained King’s DNA. King family attorney William Sulton said he is requesting the final cause of death in the coroner’s report, which he believes will show the officer used unreasonable force to stop King.

Police shoot and kill man with gun

Video posted by the sheriff’s office shows a deputy arriving and running up to the hotel to a man found shot on the ground, who was later identified as 21-year-old Dylan Michael Jimenez. The sheriff’s office said in an original release Jimenez and his brother, Bryan Matthew Richardson, 28, were the two who had an altercation with another man outside the hotel.

The sheriff’s office said Jimenez and the other man were wounded when the two shot at each other. Richardson was with Jimenez in the parking lot when deputies arrived, according to the sheriff’s office.

Video shows a man tending to Jimenez telling the deputy he was a paramedic and described a gunshot wound on Jimenez’s chest. While the deputy is speaking to the man, multiple people are heard yelling to law enforcement, “He has a gun in his hand pointing it at people.”

The video shows officers checking closets, a kitchen, the bathroom and one of the bedrooms before they go into the final room of the house, where Saavedra-Arreola is waiting.

As soon as one of the officers opens the closet door, Saavedra-Arreola lunges and starts wildly swinging a metal pipe and a folding knife. One of the officers narrowly avoids being struck, according to the video.

Police first shot him with a Taser, which doesn’t have any apparent effect.

The four officers then fire their weapons a total of 17 times. Saavedra-Arreola dies as a result of his injuries.

Man is shot and killed by an extremely patient police officer

DALHART, Texas — Body camera footage capturing officers’ attempts to diffuse an increasingly violent confrontation at the scene of a domestic disturbance call has been released following a grand jury decision not to indict an officer involved.

Officers Annika Schaffner, Rudy Corrales and Sgt. Eloy Duran responded to the scene on a domestic violence call.

36-year-old Johnny Joseph Martinez confronted the officers at the residence – threatening them with a chair and multiple knives as police attempted to take him into custody inside the home’s kitchen. At one point, Martinez held a can opener to his own throat.

The scene forced officers to retreat to the outside of the building. Sgt. Duran closed the door behind them – putting a barrier between the officers and Martinez.

Martinez then began banging on the door’s window, which shattered – sending glass into Duran’s face and temporarily blinding him.

The suspect then reached through the door and attempted to grab Duran. Officer Corrales then fired five shots, all of which struck Martinez. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

A grand jury cleared Officer Corrales Wednesday in connection to the shooting.
