I feel like the social stigma around self harm can be a good thing because shaming people shows that it's not an okay thing to do and people will be less likely to romanticise it.

On the other hand, it also decreases confidence and for people genuinely using it as a coping mechanism, it is devastating to hear that the one thing keeping themselves from making the final deadly decision, is wrong in the eyes of society.

For some people it's just a means of survival and not being able to show themselves to the world like they want is really bad for building up confidence.

That's why when I see these posts about "just be yourself and people will like you for who you are" I can't help but feel conflicted.

I have all these scars that started as a coping mechanism and developed into coping mechanism + attention-seeking behavior and eventually into a means to try and end my own life. Maybe some of you remember the video of my suicide attempt outside in a 'just do it' hoodie posted on here a while back (https://watchpeopledie.tv/h/selfharm/post/18249/doing-some-big-cuts-outside-1767).

I regret these choices of making the videos deeply and I made them when I was obviously not in the right state of mind.

I will not ask for anyone to delete them because they have been used in edits and either way nothing ever goes away on the Internet forever.

I won't tell how exactly how bad I've had it because people see it as competition everywhere.

That's because I used to have that same state of mind.

Also, if you're in the mindset of getting worse to get back at people for wronging you, just so they can understand how bad you are/have been suffering by their hands

Remember: Its genuinely not worth it.

I know what it feels like and been through that and you are way better off just telling them than to destroy something of yourself.

Imagine you're a pro gamer that has been treated bad by their parents all their life and to retaliate you figure you don't hurt them or tell them directly but you break all your own consoles and computers.

It's the one thing you got that you're good at.

It's your own personal thing.

And so is your body, your own personal thing.

Please never hurt yourself on purpose.

Speak up to whoever wronged you, ask someone to speak up for you or speak to someone that can understand what it's like so you feel heard.

Because walking around with bad thoughts in your head never made anyone sane and healthy.

If you are lonely text your friends or family.

If you don't have any friends or just want to vent to a stranger that gets what it's like text me!

I really just want to help and have no ill intentions in mind, I promise.

TL:DR Although i don't know everything, I know what it's like to feel the social stigma and feel devastatingly lonely at times.

The stigma can be a good thing but it destroys confidence to those trying to get better.

Finally I got the outcome of a scarification!

Cuts to the muscle or fascial layer (white stuff) are pretty dangerous stuff. An infection to either muscle or fascia spreads throughout the body, so it's definitely worth doing the treatment, and at the slightest indisposition or fever, it's worth going to the hospital.

What to replace the bandage and gauze?

Gauze that is applied to the wound can be replaced with a pad.

The bandage can be replaced with a handkerchief.

Hydrogen peroxide can be replaced with chlorhexedine or, in the last resort, boiled water.

Alcohol-containing remedy - vodka, cognac, any alcohol with 40 and more % alcohol

Ointments

For better healing of the skin, dexpanthenol ointment should be used.
