Appears the woman who swore at the cyclist for riding on the sidewalk has been arrested and charged for some crime

29 year old man with a deep scald burn to his right, dominant hand. The skin over the dorsum was white, leathery and insensate. The palm had more superficial burns with blisters and redness. There was no evidence of fractures or other injuries to the hand. The rest of the examination was negative.

Treatment:

2 days later, the patient was taken to the OR and under general anesthesia with an arm tourniquet applied the burn was first excised tangentially. When the tourniquet was released, there was punctate bleeding in all the excised areas. A split thickness skin graft, 12/1000 inch thick was taken from the upper, anterior left thigh. The skin graft was sutured in place with the fingers in flexion and the graft was also ‘pie crusted' for drainage. An interface dressing, a moist foam dressing, an elastic wrap and a volar splint were applied with the finders in flexion.

Follow-up:

3 days postoperatively, the dressing was changed down to the interface dressing which was left in place, and the outer dressings and the splint were then replaced. The patient was discharged with hand elevation and asked to return in one week.

2 weeks after grafting, there was complete take of the graft and the patient was referred for hand therapy. He continued to recover uneventfully and 3 months later he was completely healed with full range of motion.

The video that gained national attention occurred on May 11 at a laundromat at 23 Federal Street in Camden. The video attracted millions of views after being posted on YouTube and other sites.

It shows a man placing a child (later identified as Semel David) into a machine, apparently as part of a game of "hide and seek". He then closed the door and it locked and cycled on its own with the child inside.

As the child continued to spin, a man and a woman frantically held the door open for several seconds before running to get help. Laundromat employee Kong Aina then quickly unplugged the machine and the seemingly uninjured child was pulled to safety.

After the incident, the workers called the police. However, the woman and man in the video were not present when police arrived as they had taken Semel to the hospital to make sure he was okay. The unidentified man in the video returned about an hour later to collect his clothes and claimed the boy was fine. Authorities said the matter did not appear to constitute a criminal offense but had been turned over to the state's Department of Youth and Family Services.

Investigators initially believed the man who put Semel into the machine was the boy's father. The boy's mother, Sakia David, told NBC10 that's not the case. According to Sakia, the woman in the video is the girlfriend of Semel's father and was taking care of the child at the time. Sakia said she didn't know who the man in the video was. David also said she had no idea about the incident until she saw the video on the news and thought she recognized the woman. When David confronted the woman about the incident, she told NBC10 the woman denied it happened.

She said it wasn't her," David said. "But when the police came to my house this morning and told me to get out, I knew it was my child. Sakia said that the police later interviewed the nanny, who admitted that it was her in the video. However, the police have not confirmed Sakia's statement.

Now, the mother of the trapped toddler, Sakia David, told NBC10's Monique Braxton that her son was with his nanny when the incident occurred. David also said she did not plan to press any charges.

COVINA, Calif. -- Authorities say Sean Vazquez, a man suspected of firing at deputies, has been taken into custody in Covina, California following an hours-long barricade and surrender broadcast over Facebook Live.

The incident unfolded before 10 a.m. Sunday when deputies received a call of an assault with a deadly weapon, CBS Los Angeles reports.

“We heard three gun shots a pause and then three to four more after that,” witness Gena Valtierra told the station.

When authorities responded to the scene, Vazquez allegedly began firing rounds at deputies.

Shots continued and were even aimed at the police helicopter in the sky. Octavio Medina, Vazquez’s stepfather, said the man was high on drugs and in the house with a friend. A few hours into the standoff a man came out, was questioned and released.

Meanwhile Vazquez was talking to the sheriff’s department throughout the standoff, airing it all on Facebook Live.

“Tell your men to stand back I’ll (expletive) walk out surrendering,” Vasquez said through the Facebook video streaming service.

He was taken into custody just after 1 p.m. without incident. Nobody was hurt.

The sheriff’s department says Vazquez had a juvenile record. Medina told CBS Los Angeles that life has been difficult for Vazquez ever since his younger brother drowned a few years ago, which was followed by the death of his father.

“He’s a good kid, he’s a good kid. He just has some pain in his heart that he’s fighting demons,” Medina said.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether Vasquez was facing charges.
