Cop shoots naked crackhead charging at him

https://www.wmur.com/article/thornton-police-shooting-deemed-justified-attorney-generals-office-says/35853474

CONCORD, N.H. —

State investigators said Tuesday that a fatal police shooting in Thornton last year was justified.

Officials from the New Hampshire attorney general's office said Thornton police Officer Matthew Yao was justified in using deadly force when he shot and killed 37-year-old Ethan Freeman in October 2020.

"All of the other evidence gathered from the investigation supports the conclusion that Officer Yao did reasonably believe that he faced the imminent use of deadly physical force from Mr. Freeman at the time that the officer fired his pistol," said Assistant Attorney General Peter Hinkley.

At a briefing on Tuesday, officials displayed body camera video from Yao that captured three interactions between him and Freeman that day, including the fatal encounter at Freeman's apartment.

Officials said the body cam was critical in the case because they were able to match what the officer said to investigators with what was actually seen on the video.

At the apartment, officials said, Yao encountered a naked, bloody and irrational Freeman who, while inside, was holding a broken piece of furniture. In the video, Freeman threatens to kill Yao, jumps out a window and, while unarmed, advances on him.

"Officer Yao believed that when Mr. Freeman, who he heard had threatened his life, ultimately reached him, he would attempt to take his gun and shoot him," Hinckley said.

CHILD WARNING 17 year-old boy shot by U.S. Park Police when he tries to drive away with an officer inside his car

Full video:

Washington DC, United States

March 18, 2023

U.S. Park Police (USPP) have released body camera video that shows an officer shooting 17-year-old Dalaneo Martin inside an SUV the teen allegedly stole in Washington, D.C.

D.C. police officers found Dalaneo Martin asleep inside an SUV with the ignition running after they responded to a report of a suspicious car near 34th and Baker streets NE about 8:50 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, authorities said. They determined the car was stolen, called for backup and two USPP officers responded.

In a part of the bodycam video released Tuesday, the officers can be seen discussing how they're going to get the driver out of the car while it's running. A senior D.C. police officer can be heard directing the others: “If he takes off just let him go, but don't get inside that car."

However, the video later shows how an officer moves to arrest Martin, climbing into the backseat and saying, "Police, don't move." That officer and others appear to struggle with the teen as he's in the driver seat, and Martin yells. Authorities are unsuccessful, and Martin drives away with the officer still in his backseat.

“Stop man, just let me out,” the officer says while reaching for their gun. “Stop. Stop or I'll shoot!”

The officer fires multiple times, and the teenager yells again. The SUV then ran into a home in the 300 block of 36th Street NE. Martin died at the scene.

Police said they later discovered a gun in the SUV, but that the officers did not know it was there until after the vehicle crashed.

Kenneth Spencer, chairman of the U.S. Park Police union, said the officers' actions were justified.

“The officer had lawful reason to enter the vehicle, and both officers involved took appropriate actions for lawful reasons,” Spencer said.

Martin's family saw the video of the shooting hours before police released it to the public.

"He murdered my son and should be prosecuted," Martin's mother, Terra Martin, said after watching the video, according to the family's lawyer.

Martin's family is expected to speak to the press on Wednesday. Also known as Debo, he was a father to a 5-month-old son. The family said he cared deeply about others, and they believe that while he may have made mistakes, he did not deserve to die for being behind the wheel of a stolen car.

Now, they are seeking answers from law enforcement.

Terra Martin led a demonstration down Benning Road accompanied by family members and friends about a week after the shooting. She said her family is left with lingering questions eight days after her son was shot and killed: “Why wasn't a taser deployed? Why was the officer in the back of his car? Why was Dalaneo shot in a non-threatening position? Why haven't involved officers' names been released?”

The family's attorney, Andrew O. Clarke, said the family was told by the coroner that Dalaneo was shot multiple times.

“Six shots to the back,” Clarke said. “How can you explain that?”

The two U.S. Park Police officers involved remain on administrative leave.

Two female police officers mistake friend of home-onwer as intruder

Dramatic new body camera footage showing Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies in Houston, Texas, opening fire through a window while responding to a reported break-in had been released last Saturday.

In the new body-worn video of the incident released by the Harris County Sheriff's Office (HCSO), which spans about four minutes in total, two officers can be seen approaching an upstairs Houston apartment in the early hours of Feb. 3. A car alarm then begins to go off, and one of the officers says something to the other, and the two begin shooting after one of the officers allegedly spots Pouncy inside with a gun, according to HCSO. One of the officers re-loads their weapon and continues firing before the two retreat downstairs and notify colleagues through their radios that shots were fired. A gun was recovered near the apartment entryway after the shooting, according to HCSO.

Pouncy, 28, was visibly shaken as she recalled the incident that resulted in her being shot five times by police.

Shootout starts at 1:56

"On March 10th, 2013, James Gilkerson unleashed a deadly attack on law enforcement officers, leaving a trail of chaos and tragedy in Middlefield, Ohio. The shocking incident, captured on dash cam footage released by the Middlefield Police, revealed a harrowing confrontation that resulted in Gilkerson's demise and left two officers injured.

The nearly 2 1/2 minute video begins with Officers Brandon Savage and Erin Thomas patrolling southbound on Route 608 at around 5:55 p.m. The routine patrol took a dark turn when a green Saturn blatantly ignored the intersection of 608 and East High Street, prompting the officers to initiate a traffic stop a short distance north of the intersection.

As the officers prepared to approach the vehicle, the dash cam footage captured an ominous moment. The officers, sensing something amiss, discussed movement within the Saturn. Officer Thomas expressed her suspicion, stating, "He's hiding something." This set the stage for a tense encounter that would unfold in a matter of seconds.

Exiting the cruiser, Officer Thomas circled back behind it to the driver's side, while Officer Savage remained in the driver's seat. Before Thomas could reach the front bumper, James Gilkerson, a 42-year-old resident of Mentor-on-the-Lake, abruptly exited his vehicle. Armed with a AK-47 style semi-automatic rifle, Gilkerson opened fire on the officers without warning.

The dash cam footage documented the rapid escalation of violence, with approximately 45 seconds elapsing from the moment Gilkerson stopped his vehicle to when he unleashed a hail of gunfire. As bullets flew, Gilkerson moved away from his vehicle and ventured into the middle of Route 608, closing in on the police cruiser. Officer Savage, responded with shots aimed at Gilkerson.

Despite being hit, Gilkerson persisted, moving back toward his Saturn while repeatedly yelling, "Kill me." The chaotic scene unfolded with a disturbing mix of aggression and desperation, leaving the officers and onlookers stunned by the sudden eruption of violence.

The tragic outcome of this encounter was the loss of James Gilkerson's life and the injury of two dedicated law enforcement officers.

A report released by the Geauga County prosecutor's office said Gilkerson fired 33 rounds at the officers. His gun had a 40-round magazine attached. Officer Savage fired 29 rounds.

Inside Gilkerson's car, police found multiple loaded magazines and loads of ammunition, ski masks and gloves, military-style ammo cans, a scoped .22 caliber rifle, instructional DVDs and books such as “Kitchen Approved Plastic Explosives,” “Advance Close-Range Gunfighting,” Homemade Detonators” and others."

Seems that you liked the video from Malawi, so let's have the next African post. I have another nice torture video from Uganda, which I may cover in another post (in /h/fights, though, as no authorities were involved).

That's a very fresh case. The video itself emerged in the social media on 13th of December 2023, including Twitter. Version with subtitles is at the end of this post, it's mostly useful for the interrogation part. Over the next two days, it was established that the incident happened in Mucwini, Northern Uganda (map below), the responsible soldiers were arrested, and it was announced that they will be court-martialed.

https://i.watchpeopledie.tv/images/17026058269308462.webp

The victim's name is Nelson Omara.

On 13th of December 2023, Ugandan army spokesperson said:

“We have learnt, that civilians in Lagot village, Mucwini Subcounty, Kitgum District arrested a suspected thief, declined to take him to police but chose to carry out mob justice. The locals contacted the RDC Kitgum who discouraged them against mob justice. The LC 3 chairman and GISO then chose to take the suspect to a local UPDF detach where the detach commander, regrettably allowed this heinous act, without the knowledge of his unit commander.”

“The UPDF condemns mob justice, whether by civilians or soldiers. No one has a right to administer such punishment as corporal punishment and any form of torture are unconstitutional in the laws of Uganda. The laws provide a clear procedure guiding the arrest/detention of suspects.”

https://i.watchpeopledie.tv/images/17026087468656414.webp https://i.watchpeopledie.tv/images/17026087469844835.webp

The soldiers are Cpl. Richard Burton Otto, the commandant of detach Lagot Military detach (who reportedly commanded the torture of the suspect) Pte. Sunday Mugu, Pte. Martin Henry Omara, Pte. Morris Omara, Pte. Dennis Ogwang. Ebil said the Giso of Mucwini Sub-County, Simon Obonyo has also been arrested for participating in the torture.

Another news info:

Five UPDF soldiers have been remanded to Kitgum Prison by the army disciplinary committee. They are facing charges of aggravated torture after being captured in a video flogging a man they had suspended by his limbs with arms tied in an unnatural position. The hearing of the case took place at Lagot Trading Centre in Mucwini Sub County in Kitgum district. We have the details.

A Maryland sheriff's deputy who fired 12 shots at a man who attacked him with a tree branch will not be charged in the man's death, Maryland prosecutors reported Monday.

Sgt. Frank Pruitt, according to prosecutors, took legal actions against Kevin Costlow, 52, the morning of Feb. 6 along a roadway in Montgomery County. The two had squared off after the deputy responded to a radio call about a motorist — Costlow — who had caused two crashes before getting out of his car and trying to attack people at the scene with what initially was reported to be a baseball bat, prosecutors said.

Family members of Costlow, a retired information technology executive, have questioned why the encounter unfolded as it did.

“Kevin Costlow was a responsible and respected family man and business leader,” their attorney, Timothy Maloney, said in a statement. “He lived an exceptional life without any violence or criminality of any kind. This is what makes the tragic events of February 6 so inexplicable to his family.”

10 March 2024

SURPRISE, Ariz. - Surprise Police officials have released new details on a deadly weekend shooting that involved one of their officers.

The incident happened at around 3 a.m. on March 10, when officers responded to the area of Waddell and Dysart roads. According to a statement released by Surprise Police on Mar. 11, officers responded to the area following a call that involved a "reported argument between a husband and wife who live at the home."

"Two Surprise police officers responded. As one of the officers entered the home, the adult female ran outside," read a portion of the statement.

Police say they were then confronted by a man, identified as 44-year-old Trinidad Ledesma.

Ledesma, investigators say, was armed with a shotgun, and that was when the officer-involved shooting happened.

"The Buckeye Police Department will investigate this incident as part of the West Valley Investigative Response Team protocols," Surprise PD said, in an earlier statement.

PHOENIX — Newly released body camera footage shows the moments leading up to when Surprise police fatally shot a man during a domestic dispute call in Surprise last month.

The incident occurred after officers arrived at a residence near Dysart and Waddell roads around 3 a.m. on March 10, the Surprise Police Department said in a critical incident briefing video released Friday.

They were responding to a call from a minor reporting a domestic verbal argument.

“My parents are, uh, keep on arguing and they're like, keeping me up all night and it's just being annoying,” the caller said.

After the dispatcher asked if there were any weapons inside the house, the caller replied, “Uh, no, I don't think so. I think they're just, like, verbally arguing but like sometimes they do this and … it just gets out of control.”

When two officers arrived, they could hear screaming inside the residence.

As the officers approached the front door, a woman exited and said, “He's trying to hit me.”

One officer stayed with the woman, while the other entered into the home.

As the officer opened the door, 44-year-old Trinidad Ledesma could be seen walking from the living room to the kitchen area, out of the camera view.

“As the officer turned the corner, he encountered Ledesma facing him with a black shotgun in his right hand,” Sgt. Richard Hernandez said in the briefing video.

Ledesma could be heard in the video saying, “Don't come in. Don't come near, boss.”

According to Hernandez, Ledesma began to bring his shotgun up, in the officer's direction, prompting the officer to fire his weapon at least seven times. Ledesma was pronounced dead at the scene.

The officer involved in the fatal shooting has six years of service experience, with less than one year with the Surprise Police Department.

An investigation into the shooting is being conducted by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.

Best suicide by cops you've ever seen! Man counts down before being shot by the police execution squad!!!

Phoenix, Arizona — The Phoenix Police Department released a Critical Incident Briefing (CIB) video which includes information, audio, video and pictures related to an officer-involved shooting (OIS) that occurred on December 28, 2020, in the area of 27th Ave. and Orangewood Ave. This incident started at approximately 8:45 p.m., when a woman called 911 to report that her ex-boyfriend was in the patio of her apartment and was refusing to leave. The caller also informed the 911 operator that he had been violent in the past with her and that he was causing problems for her. The caller identified the man as 30-year-old, Jordan Crawford. The officers arrived and the suspect was no longer at the apartment and they began to look for the Crawford. Within minutes, Crawford was found walking through an open area of the apartment complex. An officer called out to Crawford to detain him but Crawford did not stop and told the officer that he had a gun as he placed his right hand behind his rear waistband area. Crawford and the officer continued to talk and walk through the complex. The officer told Crawford to show him his hands, which he refused and continued to walk backwards from officers. The interaction between the officers and Crawford continued onto 27th Avenue. Vehicle traffic stopped just missing Crawford as he crossed the street. Officers were able to contain him as he reached the east sidewalk. Once he got to the sidewalk Crawford stopped and leaned forward and began to yell with his hand behind his back. He began to count down and when he got to one, he swiftly pulled his hand from his back and the officers reacted to the threat. Officers deployed less lethal munition to safely approach Crawford in an effort to administer first aid. During the investigation a weapon was not recovered. The five officers involved in this incident are all assigned to the Cactus park precinct. There were no injuries to officers or any other community members.

Bystanders looked on in horror as Luan Agolli, 42, of Pequannock lifted the gun several times, refusing to drop it, before police shot and killed him as he paced the intersection of Carroll and Harrison streets on April 23, 2020.

Agolli held the weapon with both hands and pointed it at the converging officers several times.

"I'm giving him all these opportunities," an officer says in another video taken from the street.

"This mtherfck*r got a death wish," says one of several witnesses who either stopped their cars or came running to record the confrontation.

"They got all right to shoot him -- he ain't putting the gun down," another is heard saying.

Officers advance from cover behind vehicles toward Agolli on three sides as witnesses shout.

"Hey, yo, kill that [expletive]!" one yells. "Light his ass up!"

Moments later, Agolli crosses the intersection.

Standing against a utility pole, he raises and points his weapon a final time at an officer barely 50 feet from him.

A burst of gunfire from police follows.

The gun falls from his hand and Agolli crumples at the corner.

"He wouldn't f**kin' put that sh*t down," one of the witnesses is heard saying.

An Advanced Life Support Unit was summoned, but Agolli succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
