What Happened:

On August 31, 2020, McNutt began a Facebook livestream. His best friend, Joshua Steen, noticed the stream. He did not initially find it unusual as McNutt had routinely done livestreams in the past, but he became alarmed when he realized that McNutt was intoxicated and holding a single shot rifle. Steen allegedly attempted to intervene numerous times, particularly when McNutt misfired the rifle, hoping that Facebook would cut off the stream and end the video feed, preventing people from seeing into McNutt's home while Steen sought police intervention. Facebook refused to cut the stream, claiming that the stream was not in any violation of its platform's guidelines, as Ronnie McNutt had not yet fired a fatal shot. As the stream went on, McNutt's mobile phone rang frequently. The last call he received was from his ex-girlfriend, which he answered, leading to a brief argument between the two. After she ended the call, McNutt took hold of the gun and addressed the audience for the last time, saying his last words, "Hey guys, I guess that's it." He then aimed the rifle under his chin and fatally shot himself. About a second before he shot himself, the phone he'd left on his desk began to ring. The stream had been captured by multiple viewers. The New Albany Police Department had been called to the scene during the livestream, but did not enter McNutt's apartment until after they heard the fatal gunshot; his phone was still ringing as officers searched the scene. Police Chief Chris Robertson reported that his officers had secured the perimeter and evacuated nearby residents before attempting to communicate with McNutt via speakerphone, to no avail. A final message by Ronnie McNutt was later discovered on Facebook, saying, "Someone in your life needs to hear that they matter. That they are loved. That they have a future. Be the one to tell them". Two days after his suicide, McNutt was buried in Snowdown Church of Christ Cemetery in Prentiss County, Mississippi. There were unconfirmed reports that McNutt had lost his job and broken up with his girlfriend.

Background:

McNutt was a resident of New Albany, Mississippi, and had served in the United States Army Reserve, including in Iraq. He worked at a Toyota plant. He had a variety of mental health problems, such as depression as well as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), the latter of which was a direct consequence of his time served in the Iraq War in 2007 and 2008. In addition to this, he was also dealing with a recent break-up with his girlfriend; some reports also said that he lost his job during the COVID-19 pandemic, though Rolling Stone disputed this. McNutt was a Christian who regularly attended church.

Legal nonsense and Aftermath:

The video was downloaded and posted on Hoodsite, and the spread of the livestream started. Then the video of McNutt's suicide was posted by users across social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, often as bait-and-switch content. According to Heavy, Facebook also initially refused to prevent the spread of recorded video of McNutt's misfire and suicide but later agreed to remove the videos from its platform. McNutt had not expressed any intent for the viral spread to occur. Variants of the video appeared in TikTok's "For You" page, so that users would scroll upon it without warning as the suicide automatically played, with the apparent intention of frightening or upsetting viewers as a form of trolling. The #ronniemcnutt hashtag had 15.6 million views on TikTok within the first few days after the suicide. Though the platforms worked to remove the videos, new uploads of it would appear from separate accounts, while links to the video also began to appear in Reddit's true crime communities. As TikTok caught onto the video with its algorithms, uploaders evaded detection by placing the video after pictures of unrelated, innocuous content. The incident was compared to the filmed suicides of anchorwoman Christine Chubbuck and politician R. Budd Dwyer. A large margin of the response online was one of sympathy towards McNutt, with users using the case as an opportunity to discuss mental health and suicide prevention, as well as concern over the video's prevalence online. Some TikTok users announced boycotts of the platform until the suicide video was completely taken down, while other users began posting prayers and messages of respect and commemoration for McNutt in the comments sections of the video uploads. Many parents reported that their children were highly distressed after encountering the video, with one girl becoming physically ill and needing to sleep with the lights on. Another parent argued that she fears her children, who accidentally discovered the video on TikTok, may have post-traumatic stress disorder. The Institute of Mums circulated further warnings for parents about seemingly benign video content hiding the McNutt video, stating, "Alarmingly, there are also reports of the video being sandwiched in the middle of cute and funny cat videos, which begin with viewer-friendly footage before quickly changing to the disturbing suicide." Then Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison called the video something that "no child should be exposed to", while cybersecurity expert Susan McLean publicly recommended that parents prevent minor children from accessing the TikTok app until the video was fully removed. The case sparked a debate over what legal liability is owed by Internet platforms that fail to promptly remove graphic and disturbing footage from public view, with the blame generally being placed on Facebook for failing to cut off the livestream during the initial suicide attempt itself. Joshua Steen had called Facebook multiple times, and had called the police, neither of which stopped the stream before McNutt had already committed suicide. Steen declared, "if some woman posts a topless photo, their software will detect that, remove it, and ban their account. That's apparently more offensive than my friend killing himself." It was argued by the two platforms that the "dark web" was responsible for the ongoing circulation of the video. TikTok released a public statement saying, "Our systems have been automatically detecting and flagging these clips for violating our policies against content that displays, praises, glorifies, or promotes suicide. We appreciate our community members who've reported content and warned others against watching, engaging or sharing such videos on any platform, out of respect for the person and their family." Facebook, likewise, publicly stated, "We removed the original video from Facebook last month, on the day it was streamed, and have used automation technology to remove copies and uploads since that time. Our thoughts remain with Ronnie's family and friends during this difficult time." He reported it to Facebook during the livestream, at 22:00 Mississippi time - two hours after the video had started, and half an hour before Ronnie killed himself. He said that he didn't get a response until 23:51, when Facebook told him that the video did not violate its community guidelines. By then, Mr McNutt was dead. He says “If Facebook had intervened then, my friend may still have committed suicide but at least there wouldn't be this video." On Mr McNutt's Facebook page, more and more comments were being posted. Many were unpleasant and Mr Steen reported them to the social network as harassment. But he said Facebook told him nothing could be done because he was not the account holder. He is aware that many will argue Mr McNutt should never have filmed his death in this manner and that others will blame him for the psychological damage inflicted on those seeing the video. But Mr Steen remains loyal to his friend. "I don't think that was his intention when he started the live," he said. "When you go back and follow his digital trail there is this beautiful telling of his life on various social-media platforms. He had a history of getting on a streaming service and talking." He also came across: 1. Fake profiles featuring Mr McNutt's image on Instagram, seemingly set up by trolls intent on luring people in to see images of his death. 2. Clips of the suicide on YouTube next to advertisements. 3. A video on YouTube showing the suicide with more than 500,000 views. 4. Reports of the clip still circulating on TikTok. In response, YouTube said it had clear policies that prohibit content containing or promoting self-harm. "We quickly remove any copies of this video uploaded to YouTube," a spokesperson said. "We extend our deepest sympathies to the family of Mr McNutt." TikTok repeated its claim that is systems "have been automatically detecting and flagging these clips". Mr Steen thinks Ronnie's family deserve more and hopes there can be action before another person in distress starts a live-stream. "I don't want this to happen to anyone else's family," he said. "These are the most powerful companies on Earth. We know that they have the monetary resources and they claim to have the tech - all they don't have is the ability to care." Steen started a campaign titled #ReformForRonnie, which calls on these companies to actively accept responsibility and ownership for what people post, respond more quickly, and take action against those who violate their policies. “[This] is a red flag, especially as we go into election season that these social media networks say that they're monitoring these channels for misinformation, we're monitoring these channels for abuse, we're monitoring these channels for threats and harassment, but are they? Because the actuality shows us that they're not," Steen said.

Quotes from those effected by the shock videos:

“If you see this guy on your FYP [For You page] please scroll up immediately, it's very gruesome and I highly suggest you stay away from TikTok for a while,” one user said on Twitter, according to the Daily Star.

“I was scrolling TikTok and suddenly there's a video of a guy that killed themselves with a shotgun and I am seriously warning you DO NOT watch it DO NOT SEARCH FOR IT because it's very terrifying and gory so pls BE CAREFUL god damn I'm shaking,” another user said.

“It's Fake” hoax:

Despite McNutt video being live streamed, a conspiracy theory is claiming his death to be fake. The hoax claim started soon after a fake account was created in McNutt's name. A screenshot of the chats from the account is being shared extensively on social media. In the comments, the user has written,"I faked my own death because life fucking sucks you know, i wanted to go away and i actually edited the video and made it into a live, i was talking to my mom during the live, and i feel better but i still wanna get away from this world."

His mom's reaction:

"I hope every one of you that are getting your 'kicks' from watching the video of my son ending his life rot in Hell!!"

CHILD WARNING EFFORTPOST The suicide of 12 year old Katelyn Nicole Davis (ITZ Dolly) | full write up :marseysaki:

Introduction

This one's personal.

I remeber when this happened. It's on a personal level for me because Katelyn and I were born the same year, 2004, and I was going through some of the same issues she had around the same time. Struggling with mental illness, abuse, self harm and being hospitalized were issues I had to deal with, and at such a young age. This story absolutely breaks my heart on so many levels. So let's talk about Katelyn.

https://i.watchpeopledie.tv/images/1713749255878234.webp

Katelyn Nichole Davis was born on February 20th, 2004 in Rome, Georgia. Around the time of her suicide, she was living in a trailer with her mom, Tammy, her step-dad Anthony and her 2 younger half siblings.

https://i.watchpeopledie.tv/images/17137492562601912.webp

Livestreams

She was known as "ITZ Dolly" on a platform called Live.me where she recorded multiple hours of live streams of her everyday life where she would sing, take care of her younger siblings, do her makeup, talking to the chat and answering questions they had. During these streams she would sometimes break down and cry and share how her mom was selling drugs and doing pills, and how her step-dad tried to have sex with her. People also often asked her if her siblings were her kids because they were always on her streams.

Katelyn talking about how her step-dad tried to rape her

She says after she denied his advances, he called her a "worthless whore" and that she should hang herself. "He hated my guts but then he still tried to get in my pants" He told her to hang herself because she wasn't worth it.

Katie used vlogging to cope with her mental illness and poor home life. She shares how her home is practically unlivable, a piece of her wall is gone, she has no door and there is a hole in her floor leading outside. She wrote in "Diary of a Broken Doll" that one time a bird flew into her room through the hole, and how its extremely cold during the winter. She was worried about getting sick from the leaky pipe completely soaking her floor because "cold + wet = sickness". Her shoes would often break and fall apart from the floor being wet so she only had one good pair of shoes.

[lv_0_20240419215625.mp4]

Another thing she wrote was that her bed wasnt even a bed, it's an old rusty mattress on the wet floor.

Sometimes she would have Hundreds of people watching her streams, so they were all seeing this. They were all witnessing her living conditions and hearing all of these terrible things from Katie, so you think they would be worried enough to take action right? Most of her viewers were much older than her and they would ask her creepy things like if she lives alone. She once said "I'm not doing that! Im not taking my shirt off." And "yes I'm wearing stuff under my pajamas." Like who in their right mind is saying these things to someone who is so young. And it's not like theh didnt know, Katie has said countless times that she is 13. She has reminded viewers this over and over again so they are well aware she's a child even though they are saying these weird things. During all this she just keeps asking herself "why are all these people trying to get with me?"

"Im Thirteen" (she dosent seem super uncomfortable in this case, but in others she is)

Although, she did enjoy being complemented like in the video above because she was "used to being insulted" (being called pretty and told she is nice)

One time during a stream joking around with her little brother someone said "perv and proud" to which she replied "What? You're being a perv?? Thats my little brother! He's 4! Im 13!" Then she blocked and reported the person and began expressing how that is not okay. She also said the person was trying to get her and her little brother to touch inappropriately.

She was also a victim of catfishing, a girl named Alexa was pretending to be a boy named Ben and tricked Katie for months which affected her greatly.

She did end up dating a boy named Luke who was 19. Luke is a weirdo, in a stream talking about Katie after her death someone asks him how old he is to which he replies that he doesn't give out his age. Dude is clearly an adult you ain't fooling nobody

Katie talking about Luke

Bullying

https://i.watchpeopledie.tv/images/17137492566657603.webp

Katie talking about how she gets bullied and how Anthony told her he would go buy the rope for her to hang herself

[lv_0_20240419210641.mp4]

People would call her Ugly, an Emo freak, a monster, and one boy called her a lonely demon girl in front of the whole class while passing out papers.

Katelyn's dad

[lv_0_20240419210400.mp4]

When Katie talks about her dad, she describes him as wanting nothing to do with her, and even saying she doesn't have a dad. When she tried to see him he was uninterested, even though he only lived 2 miles away from her he still did not come see her. And when she was in the hospital after trying to commit suicide with pills, her never visited her or cared to see how she was doing. In one stream, she said the last time she saw her dad was in the store and when she tried to hug him, he walked away from her.

Katelyn's mom

Let's talk about Tammy for a moment, a neglectful, abusive, drug addict of a mother. Katie talks about her mom in a stream and explains how she mostly deals drugs, but she used to eat pills but now she crushes them up and snorts them right in front of her

Katelyn talking about how her mom sells and does drugs, and how she leaves Katie with her 2 younger siblings for hours at a time

Katelyn says if she asked her mom where she was going, she would just say she was going up the road but then would not come back home for a while.

In one stream, just the day before she committed suicide, the two have a heated argument.

Tammy is yelling at Katie to come out here, when Katie says she's getting dressed her mother continues to yell at her saying she doesn't care, and "get out here before I beat your ass" Katie has her phone hidden behind the curtain before she goes out. Tammy is complaining about the kids making a mess or whatever, Katie says that it is not her fault that they won't listen to her, and that she keeps leaving her to take care of them. Tammy said she told her to whip the children if they don't listen, which Katie replied that she can't because when she does they still don't listen. Lots of things were said back and forth, Tammy kept saying she was gonna whip her ass and that she needs to go back to the hospital. Katie brings up everything How Tammy did not get rid of Anthony as soon as the abuse happened, how shes snorting pills, bringing guys home and kissing up on them, how she's expected to do so many things and the pressure is just getting too much for her. You can hear the pain in her voice as Tammy continuously brushes her off and just won't listen "she didn't take her pill today" and "its none of your business what I do." She makes excuses for just about everything Katelyn says "I'm just trying to make money" when she brings up the selling drugs and "is he here now? No he's not still here" to the Anthony thing even though Katie's whole point was that she didn't make him leave immediately.

I can only imaging the frustration Katie was feeling during this, she had nobody except the people watching her streams. And if this was the way her mother was treating these issues then she must've felt extremely invalidated. She had no support other than her viewer's.

December 30th, 2016

The following video is the last stream Katie made before the one where she died

On the evening of December 30th 2016, Katelyn started a live stream on Live.me, it starts off with her walking outside, looking at thd camera with a blank stare as she walks toward the tree in her backyard. She has her hair and makeup done. She puts down the phone and spends about 15 minutes tying the rope to the tree.

Once she's done, at 16:56 she picks up her phone again and apologizes, saying she's sorry she's not pretty enough, she's sorry to the people who watched her streams, and she's sorry she wasn't strong enough. She cries and repeatedly apologizes over and over again. She puts the phone back down and steps up, putting the rope around her neck and continues to apologize. She says sorry to Luke, Sorry to Ben, to God, to everyone as she continues to cry. You can hear her breathing very heavily as the reality began to sit in. The first time she says goodbye, the rope begins to choke her a bit. she's scared, hesitant. She apologizes again, says bye, and kicks away whatever she was standing on. The sun is setting, as it gets darker and darker you can eventually only see a silhouette of her swaying. Before it gets too dark, you can see her clenching her fists and shaking as she spins for a bit (2 common effects while hanging) although there isn't too much flailing like you see in other videos.

Around the 30 minute point, Katie's phone begins to ring and go off multiple times. Towards the end of the video, you can hear her mother calling out to her from the house. Then the stream ends.

Circulation of the video brought media outrage. Why did it take so long for the video to be removed? Why can't the police force sites to take it down? All of these missing the point completely. They were more worried about how she died rather than what caused her to take her own life. Investigations were done on the family but nothing came of it. Other parts of the media were supportive and worried about youth depression and suicide.

Conclusion

Katie would've been 20 last month, its been 8 years since she committed suicide. Whenever I feel suicidal, I think of Katie. I think of how suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Things can and will get better, you just need to try to believe that they can. It breaks my heart to think about how she was so young, only 12. There's no reason a 12 year old should've been taking care of little kids for extended periods of time, there's no reason she should've been held up to such expectations. 12 year olds are meant to be playing outside, participating in sports, hanging out with friends etc. They failed Katie, she needed help and nobody gave it to her. No child deserves to be bullied or treated the way she was treated. She deserved a normal childhood. Rest in peace Katie.

If you or a friend are struggling with suicidal thoughts and feel you may be in danger of hurting yourself, I highly recommend calling 988 or visiting the site. Find a trusted person to talk to, it gets better.

Beheading of 19 year old Débora Bessa

RIO BRANCO, BRAZIL – JANUARY 9, 2018 A 19-year-old girl, whose full name is Débora Freitas Bessa, disappeared on January 9, 2018. 2 days later, her family learned that the girl had been kidnapped during a robbery in the city of Rio Branco in the Brazilian state of Acre. A short time later, a video of her execution began circulating on social networks.

https://i.watchpeopledie.tv/images/16958402806769383.webp

The footage shows Debora on her knees begging for her life, saying she did nothing wrong. But one of the men, the one holding the machete, tells the girl to look at the camera and tells her that she was guilty of killing his brothers. Further footage shows them cutting off her head and stabbing her in the stomach.

According to her sister Sarah Bessa, Débora was a member of a drug cartel but decided to leave them because she wanted a better life for her 5-year-old daughter. Some sources state that Debora was supposed to be hiding from the gang in church.

https://i.watchpeopledie.tv/images/16958402798287141.webp https://i.watchpeopledie.tv/images/16958402802957537.webp https://i.watchpeopledie.tv/images/16958402805824492.webp

The police launched an intensive investigation because the case received quite a bit of media attention. They managed to catch one of the men in the video – the one with the machete. And then one woman, Luciele Souza do Nascimento, who was also supposed to participate in the execution. Both were sentenced by the court to 60 years in prison. After the appeal, however, he managed to reduce the sentence “only” to 36 and a half years. According to some sources, the two were supposed to be members of the well-known Brazilian cartel Comando Vermelho (CV).

>Hanging suicides have always been fascinating to me, so I decided to take a deep dive into learning more about this classic method of suicide. Let's take a look together on the effects of hanging. This post will include things like Photo and Video examples, Definitions, and links to other posts that made this one possible. Sources and Credits at the end.

What is Suicide by Hanging?

Wikipedia defines Suicide by hanging as "the intentional killing of oneself (suicide) via suspension from an anchor-point such as an overhead beam or hook, by a rope or cord or by jumping from a height with a noose around the neck."

Commonly used items for Suicide by Hanging

Noose : (noun) "a loop with a running knot, tightening as the rope or wire is pulled, and typically used to hang people or trap animals"

(Definition by Oxford Languages)

Ligature : (noun) "a thing used for tying or binding something tightly."

(definition from Oxford Languages)

Considered to be a "simple" suicide method, materials used for Suicide by Hanging are readily available to the average person, making it a difficult thing to prevent.

According to https://uihc.org, the items most often used for self-strangulation are

  • Belts

  • Ties

  • Scarfs

  • Bedsheets

  • Cords

  • Ropes

  • and Shoelaces

The division of Suspension Hanging and Drop Hanging

Suspension Hanging Is the suspension of the body at the neck.

Complete Suspension consists of full suspension of the body when Hanging. This is not required as Partial Suspension (or Incomplete Suspension) consists of using the body's weight to tighten the ligature around the neck.

"Elaborate set-ups from high places are not needed for hanging. The only thing needed is leverage. This could be done by using a doorknob or bed post."

(Note from https://Uich.org)

During partial suspension, the victim may have their knees or feet flat on the floor.

An example of complete suspension > https://watchpeopledie.tv/h/suicide/post/129019/indian-man-hangs-himself-from-a

Drop Hanging consists of dropping from a tall height with ligature around the neck, it is usually seen more as an execution method ratjer than a suicide method

An example of Drop hanging ^

(I couldn't find a backstory/explanation for anyone above except Natália, apologies)

Surviving an Attempt/Medical effects

Failed attempts happen when the ligature or anchor poimt breaks, or someone cuts them down in time.

Surviving these attempts lead to various injuries such as

Cerebral Anoxia (A form of Hypoxia specifically involving the brain; when the brain is completely deprived of oxygen) which can result in permanent Brain Damage, results from suspension hanging

Laryngeal fracture (Fractures of the cartilage structures of the larynx or trachea),

Cervical spine fracture (fracture or break in the bone of the neck), result from drop hanging

Pharengeal laceration (may introduce air, secretions and bacteria into the Pharengeal space and mediastinum),

and Cartoid artery injuries (excessive Hypertextension of the cervical spine or extreme rotation of the neck)

Cerebral Hypoxia is the most common cause of death when hanging. Also known as Hangman's fracture

People who are hanged often have marks on their neck from where the ligature constricting them. An inverted V shape can also be seen most times.

Treatment for Survivors

(too lazy to type this one out)

"Initial treatment of survivors follows the 'usual priorities of airway, breathing, and circulation (ABC)'. Treatment should be 'directed at airway control with endotracheal intubation, ventilation using positive end expiratory pressure (PEEP), and hyperventilation with supplemental oxygen to control intracranial pressure'. One study of people who experienced near-hanging who were treated appropriately at a hospital found that 77 percent of them survived."

(Suicide by hanging Wikipedia)

Hanging used as Capital Punishment

There are many factors that go into the "ideal" hanging of a subject.

The length of the fall is key in an effective hanging, It must be calculated based on things such as the person's size. (For example, a larger person may only require a shorter drop while a smaller person may need a higher drop.

If done incorrectly, the person could Die via decapitation if the drop is too far, or die of strangulation if the drop is too small or the noose was not placed correctly.

It can take several excruciating minutes for Strangulation to take full effect.

During Strangulation: "the carteroid arteries in the neck, which supply blood to the brain, are compressed, and the brain swells so much it ends up plugging the top of the spinal column; the Vagal nerve is pinched, leading to something called the Vagal reflex, which stops the heart; and the lack of oxygen getting to the lungs due to compression of the trachea eventually causes loss of consciousness due to suffocation. Death then follows in the same pattern as it does when the neck breaks, with the entire process ending in anywhere from five to 20 minutes."

What happens to the body during hanging? How does it feel?

Survivors of hanging attempts recall seeing and hearing lights flashing and ringing noises

In most cases the persons tongue will protrude due to extreme pressure of the jaw, they might even bite through their tongue completely.

https://i.watchpeopledie.tv/images/17107277383117957.webp

The following are some things i found on Quora of people who survived their attempt, and sharing their experiences about how it felt.

"The first thing that comes to you isn't the will to breath but the feeling of your head on the verge of bursting. I remember the vivid feeling of every heartbeat pounding in my head. Every passing beat intensifying the feeling of my head swelling up, until the point that I thought the back of my head would pop open. Thats when the feeling of my lungs begging for air kicked in and I clawed at my throat frantically by instinct. “I don't want to die yet” was what I thought. It's painful and leaves your neck with an obvious mark."

(Chris Peterson on Quora)

"When this event occured i was in a suicidal state of mind but i am not anymore. Right when i setted it up (what i was going to use when i was going to kill myself) i hooked it on me, but i was procrastinating because i was feeling scared. So after i was done with that, i pushed the chair and i was just hanging for 2 seconds. In those 2 seconds, i felt like i was in a movie of someone who was about to meet there sudden death. I was rushing, trying to put my feet on the chair. Then i got back on the chair. This is why i got back on the chair. When i was hanging, my foot was tingling really fast and my face (A mirror was in front of me) was really red. My chest was like screaming at me. My whole body was acting like it was on a workout, rushing so fast. When I got back on the chair. I started having an attack trying to breathe. My head felt so out of air."

(Eliana on Quora)

"When I first tried I was eleven, I hanged myself in my room (I had a hook on the ceiling), I was tall so I kept having to get back on my chair and shorten the rope, when it finally was short enough for my toes to barely touch the ground my head felt like it was going to explode and my eyes felt like they were about to pop out, I choked for a minute, my head got a really warm feeling and my hands started tingling at the end, I chickened out and grabbed the scissors from my boxers and cut the rope."

(Dead nude women warning) Women murdered by their intimate partners -WPD EXCLUSIVE - Crime scene and morgue photographs -

The information in the video and in the text below do not cover "honor killings" or "dowry deaths" those I might cover in a future post but did not want to put them under the same umbrella as what is covered here, because both honor killings and dowry deaths have the added elements of culture and religion to blame

Of the estimated 4,970 female victims of murder and nonnegligent manslaughter in 2021, data reported by law enforcement agencies indicate that 34% were killed by an intimate partner (figure 1). By comparison, about 6% of the 17,970 males murdered that year were victims of intimate partner homicide.

Overall, 76% of female murders and 56% of male murders were perpetrated by someone known to the victim. About 16% of female murder victims were killed by a nonintimate family member—parent, grandparent, sibling, in-law, and other family member—compared to 10% of male murder victims.

A larger percentage of males (21%) were murdered by a stranger than females (12%). For 1 out of every 3 male murder victims and 1 out of every 5 female murder victims, the relationship between the victim and the offender was unknown.

Mythology

The National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) is a data collection system designed and maintained by the FBI that compiles data on all crimes recorded by participating state and local law enforcement agencies. NIBRS captures extensive information on each incident known to law enforcement. The NIBRS database collects detailed information on 52 different offenses that can occur within a crime incident and collects arrest-only information for an additional 10 offenses.1 In 2021, national estimates of crime were based on data received from about 11,790 of the 18,800 law enforcement agencies in the United States, representing approximately 65% of the U.S. population. (See BJS's National Incident-Based Reporting System page and the FBI's Crime Data Explorer for more information.)

Definitions

Murder

Murder is composed of the two homicide categories: murder and nonnegligent manslaughter. The FBI defines murder and nonnegligent manslaughter as “The willful (nonnegligent) killing of one human being by another.”2 Attempted murders, accidental deaths, suicides, and traffic fatalities are not to be coded as murders in NIBRS. In addition, felony murder or situations where a victim dies of another cause (such as a heart attack) because of a crime being committed against them should not be classified as a murder.

Relationship of victim to alleged offender

The relationship of the victim to the alleged offender(s) is based on the NIBRS Relationship(s) of Victim to Offender(s) data element, which includes 27 distinct relationship types. For this analysis, the relationship types were aggregated into six categories, detailed below:

Intimate partner—includes Victim Was Boyfriend/Girlfriend, Victim Was Common-Law Spouse, Victim Was Spouse, Victim Was Ex-Relationship (Ex-Boyfriend/Girlfriend), and Victim Was Ex-Spouse

Nonintimate family—includes Victim Was Child, Victim Was Grandchild, Victim Was Grandparent, Victim Was In-law, Victim Was Other Family Member, Victim Was Parent, Victim Was Sibling, Victim Was Stepchild, Victim Was Stepparent, and Victim Was Stepsibling

Friend or other known person—includes Victim Was Acquaintance, Victim Was Babysitter, Victim Was Child of Boyfriend or Girlfriend, Victim Was Employee, Victim Was Employer, Victim Was Friend, Victim Was Neighbor, and Victim Was Otherwise Known

Stranger—includes Victim Was Stranger

Victim was offender—includes Victim Was Offender; this relationship type is used to denote when a participant in a crime incident was both a victim and an offender, such as domestic disputes or bar fights where two or more persons were identified as participating

Unknown relationship—includes Relationship Unknown

The relationship category Victim Was Offender is not included in this report. Less than 2% of murders and nonnegligent manslaughters in 2021 were estimated to include this type of relationship.

Despite making up only 15% of the female population, African American women and girls accounted for nearly 34.6% of missing women in 2021, according to the National Crime Information Center. By the year's close, 14,323 Black women and girls were still missing. And their cases drag on four times longer than average, according to the task force report

Globally

In 2022, around 48,800 women and girls worldwide were killed by their intimate partners or other family members (including fathers, mothers, uncles and brothers). This means that, on average, more than 133 women or girls are killed every day by someone in their own family. Current and former intimate partners are by far the most likely perpetrators of femicide, accounting for an average of 55 per cent of all intimate partner and family related killings.

This year recorded the highest number of total intentional female homicides, indicating that the world is failing to stop deaths that could be prevented through early intervention, gender-responsive policing and justice, and access to survivor-centred support and protection.

Like all forms of gender-based violence against women and girls, femicide is a problem that affects every country and territory across the globe. According to the new report, in 2022, Africa recorded the largest absolute number of female intimate partner and family related killings with an estimated 20,000 victims; followed by 18,400 in Asia; 7,900 in the Americas; 2,300 in Europe; and 200 in Oceania.

Adjusted for total population size, the available data shows that, in 2022, 2.8 women and girls per 100,000 were killed by an intimate partner or family member in Africa; compared with 1.5 in the Americas; 1.1 in Oceania; 0.8 in Asia; and 0.6 in Europe.

While the numbers presented in the report are alarmingly high, they are the tip of the iceberg. Too many victims of femicide still go uncounted: for roughly four in ten intentional murders of women and girls, there is not enough information to identify them as gender-related killings because of national variation in criminal justice recording and investigation practices.

In many cases, only gender related killings perpetrated by an intimate partner or family member are counted as femicides—yet we know that gender-related killings take place in many contexts beyond the private sphere. They can be related to rape or sexual violence by someone unknown to the victim; linked to harmful practices such as female genital mutilation or so-called honor killings; a result of hate crimes linked to sexual orientation or gender identity; or connected with armed conflict, gangs, human trafficking and other forms of organized crime.

Ensuring the availability of comprehensive disaggregated data is critical to strengthening femicide prevention, protection and response measures, as well as access to justice. To help move beyond the current limitations in data collection, UNODC and UN Women developed the statistical framework for measuring the gender-related killing of women and girls (“femicide/feminicide”), approved by the United Nation's Statistical Commission in March 2022.

There continue to be significant limitations in data and information on gender-related killings of certain groups of women and girls. Women in the public eye, including those in politics, women human rights defenders and journalists are often targets of intentional acts of violence, both online and offline, with some leading to fatal outcomes and intentional killings.

Despite data limitations, the available evidence from Canada and Australia suggest that indigenous women are disproportionately affected by gender related killings. At 4.3 per 100,000 women and girls, the rate of female homicide in Canada was five times higher among indigenous than among non-indigenous women and girls in 2021.

To prevent femicide, it is crucial that national authorities record comprehensive data on victims. By identifying women and girls at greater risk, countries can better inform prevention and protection mechanisms.

Gender-related killings and other forms of violence against women and girls are not inevitable. They can and must be prevented through primary prevention initiatives focused on transforming harmful social norms and engaging whole communities and societies to create zero tolerance for violence against women. Early intervention and risk assessment, access to survivor-centered support and protection as well as gender-responsive policing and justice services are key to ending gender-related killings of women and girls.

One innovative practice with the potential to enhance necessary reforms are in-depth multi-stakeholder reviews of gender-related killings of women and girls. These often involve families and social networks of victims, with the aim of improving institutional responses and preventing future killings.

In Aotearoa New Zealand, the Family Violence Death Review Committee conducted in-depth reviews of family violence-related killings to better understand the context, help-seeking behavior, and agency responses. The Committee recorded 320 family violence deaths between 2009 and 2020, of which 178 (56 percent) were women and girls. The Committee's findings showed that the most vulnerable—Māori, women, children and people with disabilities—are often unfairly assigned responsibility for their circumstances from the way they are portrayed in case records, their interactions with case workers, or the inadequate responsiveness of agencies. To address these issues, the committee recommended agencies should adjust their approach to draw from the methods used by Kaupapa Māori organizations. This more respectful approach focuses on well-being and involves training of service providers, shifting the focus to the entire family to break the silence of violence and shifting the status quo and norms of institutions so that initiatives are responsive to the needs of families.

More research is required to better understand what is driving increased femicide in certain contexts, and what factors have enabled decreases in others to better inform prevention strategies.

It was already posted by @Jaish around 3 weeks ago, but I added a whole backstory. This is a rare case when video is recorded as it should be, and perpetrators clearly enjoy their job. Cameraman does, too. tl;dr: in the beginning of October 2001, three people were kidnapped by five Chechen militants from their home in the outskirts of Grozny. All but the cameraman were really young, the only convicted for now being 18 yo back then. One another may be still alive, the rest were killed by the Russian special forces. Tatiana Usmanova, 39 yo, was interrogated - or rather tortured, like them all - in front of her friend (she was later shot) and husband, the only surviving witness. The victims were accused of cooperating with local police and feds. Tape with the footage surfaced in the middle of 2004, when one guy was already in prison, and nearly all of his accomplices - dead. The first one was convicted in 2007, for now - he's still serving his time in penal colony. Rest of info under the video. I put timestamps below if you'd like to skip certain moments or watch them specifically. [EDITS will come later]

⠀⠀TIMESTAMPS :marseywait:

0:00 to 2:18 - interrogating Tatiana, she gets hit few times.

2:18 to 3:50 - one of the militants is making a shallow scrape (for the blood to flow there); broader view of the scene, interchangeably with zooming on Tatiana's face.

Around 4:58, she starts pleading while being asked to show hands, got them taped around. Her husband gets mouth taped.

Then she's brought down, dude tries the knife against her throat (seems to figure out how to cut it later). Around 6:30 tape on her mouth is cut off, another talking scene.

8:30 to 9:20 - taping her mouth around again, preparations for the beheading.

9:20 - beheading starts; two guys take turns on cutting and holding her down. 9:50 to 11:00 is black screen (covered camera only), then it's just aftermath visible and boasting with her cut off head until 12:50.

12:50 onwards: just talking, few beheading aftermath scenes in-between.

⠀⠀THE KIDNAPPING, THE MURDERS AND THE PEOPLE BEHIND IT :marseysmug2:

Map with important spots relating to the story. Gekhi, around 12 km from the village of Alkhan-Kala, both close to Grozny. Orange square marks the village that the couple was living in (formally a part of Grozny). Small river flowing through Alkhan-Kala is Sunji.

https://i.watchpeopledie.tv/images/168413986848141.webp

Three victims of the kidnapping and torture were:

  1. Tatiana Usmanova (born 1962), Russian by identity (Chechen father, Russian mother) - beheaded

  2. Hassan Edilgireev, her husband, Chechen - let free

  3. Elena Petrovna Gaevskaya, friend or neighbour of Tatiana, Russian - shot

Tatiana and Hassan were living in the Andreevskaya Dolina village, in Zavodsky district of Grozny. Sources either claim that Tatiana had 4 children or 5 children, some don't mention them at all. In the evening of 1st of October 2001, Elena - a friend of Tatiana - paid the visit to the couple. According to Hassan, five armed bandits broke into their home. They were part of the group led by Islam Chalayev (more on him in the next section). All three victims were threatened with reprisal (in what way - not specified), then taken to UAZ and driven away to Alkhan-Kala, to Chalayev's house.

http://WarChechnya.ru precises the most about the events shown. Khamzat Tazabaev nicknamed 'Tazik', born in 1974, was the cameraman. The first man doing a few cuts on Tatiana's neck is Arbi Khaskhanov, nicknamed 'Little Arbi' (possibly born in 1983). Next one, cutting the throat, is Adlan Barayev (I couldn't find his exact age). Head was finally cut off by Ilyas Dashaev (born 1982, living in Gekhi). He was the only one sentenced (in 2007), his accomplices were nearly all dead by the time. According to his court testimony, they got informed about all three victims allegedly collaborating with local police and FSB. Admitting to helping the local authorities and feds was obtained by force, though. Arbi Khaskhanov claimed (in 2003) that afterward both corpses were thrown into the Sunji river.

There is also 'someone said something' type of scenario, which I couldn't verify. Apart from alleged collaboration with cops and feds, other motives include crime based on ethnicity and more complicated issues between former friends or acquitainces. Reportedly, Tatiana may have known the killers, who were once friends with her son Alexander. Arbi Khaskhanov had an older brother, Apti. He claimed that both women sold Apti out to feds, and the man had later died in detention. His personal motivation was avenging Apti.

⠀⠀PERPETRATORS' BACKGROUND, AFTERMATH AND THE TRIAL :marseyrussiaglow:

  1. Islam Chalayev: eliminated during the FSB operation in April 2002;

  2. Khamzat Tazabaev: eliminated during the FSB operation in February 2004;

  3. Adlan Barayev: also killed during a special operation, in December 2004. His brother Movsar Barayev (and newphew of Arbi Barayev) led the hostage-taking during the Dubrovka theater hostage crisis, more known as Nord-Ost siege (I wrote a longer post on it: https://watchpeopledie.tv/h/combat/post/28466/nordost-siege-or-moscow-theater-hostage ), and was dead since the October 2002;

  4. Arbi Khaskhanov: I couldn't find info on this one; news about guy with same name and surname eliminated by feds comes from a month before. I don't know how the legal aspects look like for releasing info about not yet adult criminals (it's possible that 'Little Arbi' was 17 yo back in the October 2001). As in 2007 'nearly all' of the accomplices were eliminated, this one may be the exception and still alive;

  5. Ilyas Dashaev: discussed below. His full name is Ilyas Isaevich Dashaev, born on 5th of September 1982.

At the beginning of his criminal 'career', Dashaev was involved in the group led by Arbi Barayev (born 1973). He'd been specifically choosing young and cruel men to his ranks; actually would deserve a separate post. In the beginning of 2001, Dashaev moved to the 'Jamaat' led by Chalayev. Then (if I understood sources correctly) in the summer of 2001 he either moved to 'Bagram' group or the previous one was reformed into 'Bagram'. No matter the scenario, this group was destroyed in April 2002.

In the middle of 2004, feds in Grozny obtained a tape with the torture and beheading footage. That started a separate investigation. All men participating in torture and killings were identified, and one witness found - Hassan. Most of the militants had already died, and Dashaev was serving time in prison for the other crimes. In January 2002, federal troops managed to conduct a special operation against Dashaev and detain him. In December, the Stavropol Regional Court found him guilty of the murders of the heads of administrations of several Chechen villages, two employees of the Urus-Martanovsky District Department of Internal Affairs who were on a study leave in Grozny, as well as e.g. banditry and robbery, and sentenced to 20 years in prison in a maximum security colony.

For the 2001 murders, Ilyas Dashaev was convicted in 2007 by the Supreme Court of the Chechen Republic and sentenced to 22 years in prison, with serving a sentence in a maximum security penal colony. He was serving time in an IR-1 colony in the Chelyabinsk region. Exact accusations were: kidnapping committed by an organized group, murder in relation to its activity (I may have messed up the translation), committed with an exceptional cruelty and out of selfish motives.

Controversy sparked in 2018 after another prisoner of IR-1 colony, Yevgeny Kidinov, was beaten to death on 11th of November. One of the accused was Ilyas Dashaev. His wife Ramisa spoke in his defence; there are both articles and a video. Reportedly, CCTV recordings show Kidinov going out of the room where Dashaev was on his feet, with a cheerful gait. He died 4 hours later. According to Ramisa, the charge is based on the testimony of two witnesses. Both guys were involved in drug trafficking in IR-1 colony, and they got into a conflict with Dashaev, who was openly against the drug use among the prisoners.

Video of the Pole Being Removed From His Ass:

a French voice can be heard saying: “He hit the pole” and a second man can be heard: “Yeah, he's impaled on the pole.” A woman's voice then adds: “It's not a fake video is it?”

The CCTV footage that was filmed by the police officers was then shared on WhatsApp with other police officers before being released into the public sphere.

And there was also a second video that was filmed either by a medic or fireman at the Public Assistance – Hospitals of Paris (AP-HP) that shows the bollard being extracted from the man's body.

It shows the critically injured man lying naked with a cardiac message machine in action on his chest and surrounded by three caregivers in green codes and a firefighter and a white vest as they remove the side of the pole from the man's body.

A man's voice can be heard saying “Oh misery! Oh, the cow! Oh, fuck! Ah! But what a horror! What a horror,” which is cleanup genuine sentiment as he then chuckles, before adding with a sneer: “It's good, saved, so!”

The AP-HP confirmed that the video had been shot in one of its facilities, apparently at the Beaujon hospital in Clichy.

They confirmed that the footage is genuine, although not something that happened recently as some Spanish media have been reporting.

French officials also ordered an enquiry to work out how images of the man ended up being shed by police and also how they were shot at the hospital.

The usual story presumably correct reported that the man had jumped on September 27 and was alive as firefighters, medics and police fought to save his life. He died after being removed from the pole one hour after he was delivered to the hospital.

Lawyer Tewfik Bouzenoune https://i.watchpeopledie.tv/images/1708191650364774.webp for the family of the man who died, aged 26, said it was a disgusting invasion of his privacy and demanded maximum punishments for the police officers and hospital officials responsible for releasing the two videos.

Edit: Holy shit i got a famous video!

"A 77-year-old man shot dead two environmental protesters on Wednesday in an apparent outburst of rage over a roadblock in Panama.

The gunman was named in local media as Kenneth Franklin Darlington Salas. If he is convicted, Mr Salas could be sentenced to house arrest rather than being sent to jail because of his age.

The protesters, who were opposed to a controversial mining contract, had blocked the Pan-American Highway in Chame, 51 miles from the capital Panama City.

Footage posted on social media showed the motorist walking from his car, demanding the protesters get out of the road.

Initially, Mr Salas removed tyres which were obstructing the road. The protesters, according to witnesses, shouted at the man: “Are you going to kill someone?”

The gunman replied: “You want to be the first?”

He opened fire, first shooting a protester holding a flag and then a second man who went to confront him, before walking off and removing tree trunks that had been blocking the road. He was then arrested.

Local media identified the victims as Abdiel Diaz, a teacher and union activist, and Ivan Mendoza.

The site, in the jungle to the west of the capital, is considered environmentally sensitive.

In an effort to calm tempers, congress last week passed a law that imposes a moratorium on new metal mining contracts and left it up to the Supreme Court to decide on whether to allow the contract with First Quantum Minerals.

Environmentalists have welcomed this decision by lawmakers, saying indeed it is the court that should rule on whether the contract violates the constitution.

But a powerful construction union called Suntracs, teachers unions and other organisations want the contract to be annulled through a law passed by Congress, so they are continuing their protests.

Panama-America said Mr Salas was born in Colon and had been a teacher at several universities.

Mr Salas was previously arrested in 2005 after weapons – including an AK-47 and M-16 - were found in his flat. He was later acquitted after a court accepted his plea that they were merely part of a collection.

He was employed as a spokesman for Marc Harris, a Panamanian accountant who was jailed for 17 years in 2004 after being convicted of money laundering and tax evasion."

This video has been around for long and there are many stories surrounding this. A dude can be seen beaten in his sleep. At around 45s mark the attacker says in Spanish "This fucker banged my sister" and "he pulled out an L on me" suggesting the victim threatened him with a gun. He was selling drugs to his sister and made her pay with sex. Her sister ended up in hospital and later he threatened his brother. He can be seen sleeping with a knife and two of his mates. He shows shows instant signs of decerebrate posturing after the first punch. This story needs primary sources and backing.

I had a little problem with the bass (it's always him 🙄), so I decided to "fix" the bass on my cell phone instead of waiting 15 minutes to open the project again in FL Studio.
